i was watching a TV program yesterday about councils making as much money from parking tickets as possible. And that how many people aer complianing about tickets just randomly being slapped on the car, and them appealing and getting thier money back or ticket cancelled.

i understand that people may have tickets slapped on randomly and complailing that they have spent time ecxt on getting their money back.

but people that knowingly park on yellow lines and in no parking areas compaining. Its disgracefull! if you need to park somewhere you park legeally!! its not hard!

im wondering if anyone else has had a parking ticket and has appealed and received there money? or not?

I parked in Alfreton Pay and display. The maximum you can pay is 3hours parking.

I did all my shopping, backwards and forwards to the car. Don't like using these out of town superstores, like to keep local town shopping centres.

I was 5 minutes late back to my car, laden down with bags, and saw my ticket. I'd have paid for longer if I could've. Appealed but got nowhere.

There are private companies that put tickets on your car if you park somewhere like a company's car park. I got one of theirs once and they wanted £70. A week later they wrote again saying it had gone up to £110. I wrote back and said I wasn't the driver of the car that day so cannot be responsible. I gave a name of a supposed driver. They wrote to my address a few times addressing the letter to the supposed driver and eventually gave up.

Not sure what the Council would do. Probably push it and eventually prosecute?

Errr. I'm the worlds worst. Keep getting tickets and forgetting to pay up. I think I am going to buy a black cab next time ;)

I've experienced some nasty dealing with parking fines.

There can be no support for the over zealous manner in which parking 'offences' are doggedly persued.

Nor for the manner in which one becomes embroiled within the system.

I wonder if they hand out tickets on Scotland St. You always see vehicles parked on double yellows there. White vehicles with red stripes on them. Never seem to get ticketed or clamped though.
