Bad accident on the corner of Blackbrook Road and Redmires Road at a guess....it gets a mention at the end of the fatal road accident story linked below. Damned if I know how they managed such a bad collision at that time of night....

Techie Boy 29-06-2006, 22:42 Why the interest in someone else's tragedy and misery?
The injured woman is a friend of our family and is currently in intensive care.
It would also be very wrong to discuss the exact nature of the accident incase there are charges to be brought by the police against the driver of the car that pulled out of the junction.
So... because it is personal it shouldn't be discussed?...
Every news story is personal to someone, and many people have an interest...
Techie Boy 29-06-2006, 22:50 Many people may have an interest, but is it in the public interest? Or just the slowing down to see some gore interest?
Does it have to be in the public interest?
You have a personal interest... as stated.
A gore interest is a personal interest - just as valid.
I am sorry for your friend's injuries, but you are not alone, and life goes on.

How can you believe anything you read in The Star, "Redmires Golf Club" (sic)? Hallamshire Golf Club please!

Pretty sure the incidents can't be related they are miles apart?

I'm pretty sure they aren't related, just that the 'Star' has merged them together in one piece. The one in question was at Blackbrook Road/Lodge Lane where Hallamshire Golf Club is on one corner. Why they should call it "Redmires Golf Club" is beyond me? Redmires Road just happens to lead to Redmires which is well along the road. I remember when an accident down by the old Ward's brewery was termed to be at "Ecclesall"! It just happened to be near Ecclesall Road!
Sheffette 07-07-2006, 09:14 DanSta I have PM'd you.

Local interest and concern perhaps? Why do people read the papers and watch the news. I am sure you do. The fact that you know the person involved makes no difference I'm afraid.
