Ok...see that link? That takes you to the official Spiderman 3 site, and from there you can see the full-length teaser trailer! (or you can go to quicktime.com and see it there)....I recommend the hi-def version for maximum effect!
Yup..it may be 11 months before the film arrives, but this is no 20 second trailer with just a logo and a silly "next summer" tag like we normally get.
Noooooo
This is a full blown trailer in which we get to see....
Spidey's costume turn black
Spidey struggling to remove the symbiotic black costume
Sandman attaking
Spidey swinging with Gwen Stacey
A new Green Goblin smashing Spidey into a wall
Eddie Brock at a church
and lots of little flashes of other bits.
11 months is such a long time to wait......
had the screensaver for a few months now, just received the same email, got to update QT first though.
The Spiderman films are pretty naff.
The Spiderman films are pretty naff.
Not if you like them :suspect:
Agent Gypo 28-06-2006, 14:43 Both have been very average so far, although if Venom is going to make an appearance I may be interested.
They just seem cheaply made to cash-in on the current "based on comics" films, most of which have been rubbish compared to the actual comics.
Agent Gypo 28-06-2006, 14:46 The only two decent comic book adaptations I've seen so far have been The Crow and Sin City, though Sin City is a little lacking in substance.

that may just be your perception, compared to the likes of Captain America ,The Shadow,The Punisher(original) and Flash these movies are pretty impressive.
long may they continue.

They have a bigger budget sure, so more SFX, but they don't realy have any more substance.
Beakerzoid 28-06-2006, 15:00 Personally I thought that the Spider-Man films so far have been two of the best adaptations of comic books to date. They truely captured the vibrant nature of the comic, with striking camera-work, a great line up of cast in role which they were born into, and the perfect balance of story, drama, and action. As a fan who has collected Spider-Man comics for nigh on 25 years the only niggle I have had with the film so far was the 'power-ranger' suit the Green Goblin wore.
It also helps that one of my fave directors was behind the lens (Sam Raimi).

Just going off on a tangent, I've got about 400 Spiderman comics from the 70's and would like to know if they are rare or worth anything. I don't want to sell them, just curious.
I don't really know who to ask.......???????

i can see your point but in reality how much substance can they really have.
could you not recognise your best friends voice in a fancy dress outfit, or realise that the mild mannered bespectacled guy looked just like superman.
they are "shallow" films in that respect and there is little they can do apart from do justice to the comic.
one of the worse "new" breed of superheroes was Elektra - what pap that was.
Elektra - what pap that was.
I think we can agree on that.
Beakerzoid 28-06-2006, 15:19 Depends on the condition they are in. Being as they are from 70s (as in before comic collecting became a 'fad' - the reason that comics from the 90s...even the 'holografix special covers' ones...are worthless), a collector may be quite intersted in paying decent cash for them, particularly if they need to plug the gaps in their collection. The 70s was known as The Bronze Age for comics, where the print runs had grown quite large, so the condition of the comics makes a lot of difference.
Are they the US editions or the UK reprints? The US ones are generally worth more.
You could see if they are listed at http://www.comicspriceguide.com/default.asp to give a good guideline for the values.
One of these days I'm gonna have to value my collection....it may take some time. To me they are priceless (I love breaking open a bundle from time to time and reliving the stories), but it would be nice to know what wealth I am sat on (got a few Silver Age titles - ie 60s)
Agent Gypo 28-06-2006, 15:21 They are UK editions, and they haven't aged too well.
Thanks for the link.
Beakerzoid 28-06-2006, 15:23 I think we can agree on that.
Oh poor Elektra...what went wrong! Such potential, including a great idea for the 'emotional core' aspect of her story. How could it have all gone so wrong?
Oh...yeah....by taking some great villains and using them as mindless thugs (I mean...what on earth was the point of having Typhoid Mary in the film if she wasn't going to be used in any effective way!)
Oh...and a better cast and director could have worked!
What a waste....almost as bad as Catwoman, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Man Thing (straight to DVD...should have warned me that something was amiss!)
Beakerzoid 28-06-2006, 15:24 They are UK editions, and they haven't aged too well.

The UK ones go very cheap on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SPIDERMAN-WEEKLY-114-to-148_W0QQitemZ6639509404QQihZ012QQcategoryZ72338QQr dZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting)
note to self....don't go searching on e-bay for comics again unless you have money in the bank (just found some gaps to plug)!!!
I was dissapointed with LXG, I think it needed to be a much longer film, but thats the problem, they are aimed at kids, with a limited attention span.

The biggest complaint I had with LXG was Sean bloody Connery! His casting meant that his role had to be central to the story, and so the rest of the League were just his sidekicks! It had no feel of the excellent comic book series, and instead went for typical blockbuster nonsense.
As for running time, you may be pleased to know that Superman Returns is coming in at a respectable 153mins (so not being trimmed for the kids)
didn't mind LXG -but it could have been better.
catwoman will be a cult film mark my words. HB in skin tight leather and a better dual persona than that portrayed in the batman franchise.
must admit to being a bit of softie for "comic" book heroes & i'm usually reluctant to criticise too much .
re: central characters.
HB demanded to have a larger part in xmen3 although the story didn't really call for it,or she wasn't gonna appear at all.
and she lost the jamaican accent that was apparent in xmen1.
what about Daredevil, with ben affleck, now that was truly awful..:(
I've always hoped they would do a Judge Dread film, with the Dark Judges in, but I guess thats pretty unlikely.
Batman Begins was the best comic book to movie crossover ever IMO... Is there going to be a Joker themed sequel? The ending of BB would suggest so, given that they showed the Joker's card and said he'd escaped from Arkham.

They are meant to be writing a script for it at the moment. I think the first rough draft has been done so they can get the financing. Not due for release until 2008 though. Two villains apparently, one will be the joker, heard that the other may be Two-Face.

I'd heard similar except that Joker would be main villain and the character of Harvey Dent would be built up, with him becoming two-face at teh end, ready to jump into the third film.
Either way, the casting of Joker should be interesting (I know Paul Bettany has expressed a desire for the role)

I'd like to see Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill in the role, well he's done the Joker's voice in animated Bat movies, and he hasn't done much on screen since Return of the Jedi apart from playing the main character in Wing Commanders 3 and 4 on PC (I love those games, damn you Microsoft for making them not work under XP  )

Maybe they'll change the story a little bit so that he'll be turned into Two-face by the Joker throwing acid over him or something like that?
The last I heard Paul Bettany was interested but hadn't actually been approached by anyone to do with the film.

Same here- Venom kicks ass!
youwhatref 28-06-2006, 20:10 I thought both films were really good and Spiderman 2 was one of the better films of the last year. I hear that Tobey Maguire isn't play Spiderman in the third film, is this true???

Seen as he is in the trailer it'd be a very brave move to recast him now :D. He very nearly didn't appear in the 2nd one due to a "back injury" but managed to recover intime. Maybe you are thinking of that?

Batman Begins was poor, though not as bad as Batman & Robin.
The producers should have continued with their original plan and filmed the graphic novel Batman Year Zero with Darren Arronofsky as director (Pi, Requiem For A Dream).
Now that would have been really interesting.

Batman and Robin wasn't that bad IMO, Alicia Silverstone in tight black leather as Batgirl...
Agent Gypo 30-06-2006, 13:21 Alicia Silverstone has disappeared off the radar big time, not seen her in anything for years
