I went to this cafe last night, on it's opening day, and i wanted to tell everyone that it is a fantastic place and a great addition to the Heeley/Meersbrook area. The coffee was great, the food was delicious (mostly vegetarian and organic) and the staff were really really really nice. It's not a huge space but they've managed to make it feel cosy without feeling cramped. It's open 10am - 10pm.

I went here yesterday too and it was great- they're also opening a room upstairs soon which will be great for poetry evenings/ other cosy events... about time something like this was opened around this area!

Who are you people ( apart from titan of course )

What I would like to know is what brands of beer do they sell, and what form is the advertised "light entertainment"?

I hope this isn't a troll from the owners or staff of the said bar or resteraunt, or whatever.

What do you think Cholmondely-Badger Jnr. ?

Hmmmm, think this one could be genuine..... (benefit of the doubt).... :)

REALLY don't think this one is a casual passerby! No ordinary customer would enthuse about a cosy room upstairs which will be great for poetry evenings. Poetry evenings? Do me a favour! :hihi: (Not knocking the concept, just sceptical that you're a genuine punter).

But anyway, whereabouts on Chesterfield Road is it? Down near the In a Nutshell shop? Or elsewhere?

Not seen that advertised, but I have seen "enlightenment" - what does that mean?

whereabouts on Chesterfield Road is it?
Near Everest, next to La Stanza

Went down to have a look this evening.Nice place but was very quiet, hope they do put on some events to liven things up a bit.Anyway it is just along from In a Nutshell and near to my favourite foodshop along there, the Portugese minimart which looks shut even when its open but has some lovely goodies.

i've noticed its open and it does look a bit small (bit too intimate!) but no doubt i'll try it out with my friend and our toddlers (see what havok they can wreak!)

Agreed
I went at the weekend. The staff were lovely and the food was good and quick.

I've just been to The Bohemian with my friend and we both thought it was fantastic! Wonderful food - mostly veggie, with some fish dishes. I had sweetcorn fritters with avocado salsa, followed by buckwheat pancakes with blueberries and cream. Yum! Great smoothies and coffee too! I agree that the staff are so lovely, so check this place out! Too many places have closed down on that bit of Chesterfield Road and we need to support places like this to help give the area the great vibe it deserves!

I've been clocking this place for a while as it was coming along. I noticed it opened at the weekend.

I've not been in, but I've had a stare and I think it looks smaller at the front, but it appears there is more room at the back.

Anyway, sounds good from the reports. I can't wait to order a drink, some food, and...er...a large portion of "enlightenment" please.

I'll be having a walk down one night after the weekend. Just what Chezzie road needs :)

And some on tap sex products next door should the food arouse you so. haha.

I went on the opening day too and had a nice cup of coffee and cake. The music was good and the ambience relaxed. I don't think they're going to get an alcohol licence. I look forward to eating there.

If any of the staff are reading I'd like to suggest:

Half price refills on coffee.
The quality papers/local mags/mags in general.
Children strapped to their chairs at all times.

I agree Norbert. It would have been nice to sit around and chill out for a bit longer, but I found my drink went too quickly, no reading matter, and the unruly kids created a desire to commit violent acts.

But despite that, I thought the place was fab, the staff great, the ability to cater for vegans impressive, and the ambiance lovely.

If you haven't been, go!

I must emphasise Bohemia is a great café, the food looks really tasty and I’m looking forward to going again. I’m promoting the place to everyone I meet.

As to children in cafes in general: leaving a child to wander around and find their own amusement in a café/restaurant did not use to be the norm. Children were once expected to have good manners, to sit quietly and be respectful. There’s nothing cute about being poked/bumped into while you’re drinking your coffee or having your conversation and concentration shattered by tantrums.

We agree!
And the above is how we intend to bring up young Draggle - just how we were brought up in fact....

Look forward to checking out Bohemia soon :)

Been to the Bohemian this evening to eat. Food really good - the roasted veg ciabatta excellent. Staff really friendly. It's linked to the Shaan take away down the road - who also do excellent food, in my opinion.

Good to have somewhere like this around here.

Naughty - totally with Norbert on this one. Been discussed in numerous posts but there's no need to take as personal criticism when someone objects to unruly kids being unleashed in public.

our kids don't scream!! i just wanted to go somewhere for lunch when my sister visits and i thought it might be nice. if there are highchairs the kids will just sit and eat with us then we'll leave. if theres no highchairs we'll go somewhere else. each to their own i suppose but its nice to be able to go out to eat on rare occasions with your children.

They don't have high chairs (probably not enough room), but while I was in, another customer recommended they get one or two booster seats.

The last couple of times I've driven past, there has been no sign of life and the shutters have been down - hope that it's still open? Went a few weeks ago and although it's very small, the food was nice and the service was good. Would be a real shame if it didn't do well.

Just drove past it this evening on my way back from work and it was definitely open. But I noticed it was shut at about the same time yesterday - maybe they close Mondays or something.

Well made the trip specially to Meersbrook today and wasn't disappointed. Had the yoghurt and houmous dip with pitta (£1.80 for a huge plateful!) I had halloumi salad which had loads of cheese on it and my friend had the tabouleh and then we had this lovely brownie each for dessert and coffees. I had a smoothie and my friend had some water and it was a tenner each! Bargain!
The staff were lovely and helpful and I really hope this business goes from strength to strength as it deserves to. Added to my select list of places I will travel to eat at!

Had a pleasant meal there recently, at about 9pm. Friendly staff and good food. I liked the fact that the food is made up in-house (eg dips, houmous, Bohemian Bars) and a lot of it is organic &/or veggie

this place is truly awesome!

been twice. once on a saturday with my 2 year old, who loved it! it was so relaxed we stayed for hours doing puzzles....

Then on a weekday evening with my partner, very romantic, wonderful food, fantastic staff - vegan, veggie, fair trade and just perfect.

Recommended 100%

The Bohemian Cafe on Chesterfield Rd has received lots of attention on here, and rightly so. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is great and the staff are brilliant.

In order to support their customers further, The Bohemian have launched their new website, thebohemian.co.uk (http://thebohemian.co.uk).

The site displays sample menus, online booking and a location map. Coming soon, an events calendar (featuring all of the exciting events The Bohemian will be putting on), a photo gallery and much more.

By the way, I dont work for them, I simply helped build the site after enjoying my many visits there with my family - so my comments are all honest

Anyway, take a look and support an exciting and valuable new business in Sheffield;

I've been to The Bohemian twice this week, once with a friend and again with my three year old son.

The food was lovely both times and the staff are a really friendly bunch. My little boy was made most welcome, and he enjoyed doing some drawing with paper and crayons provided.

Another nice place to eat in that area is Heeley city farm cafe. They do lovely food that is very reasonably priced.

sounds good but there is no parking because of the pellicon crossing, the bus stop across the road and there being an italian one side and the indian restrant two doors up one good side to it though on leaving you could always pop next door to the sex shop and get some good vids to take home

I've been a couple of times in the evening with friends and really enjoyed it.We had a selection of dishes to share tapas style. They really do seem to care about the food, really tasty and nicely presented. We took our own wine and the meal came out at about £11 a head which i think is pretty good for the quality.
By the way does anyone know anything about the Italien restaurant next door, only noticed it recently , think its called La stanza.I'd quite like to try it but wondered if anyone knows if its any good
