View Full Version : Who remembers The Bare Naked Ladies and Poison?
ToryCynic 08-06-2004, 00:10 Hiya,
I was wondering who knows what happened to The Bare Naked Ladies (1990s) and Poison(1980's). I have Every Rose Has It's Thorn (the latter band) and If I had a Million dollars (The former band). Both good.
Who elses likes 'em..?
i thought the bare naked ladies were still going! they never were that big, so they could still be there, just not in the Shi*est of shi* British pop charts. I think any band that is not in the charts is one worth listening to.
Can you tell that i hate the music charts in Britain for creating such a dull music industry that has no soul? I pray for the day that people start to appreciate quality music.
genesiscouch 08-06-2004, 08:34 Bare Naked Ladies had a huge chart comeback just a few years ago...in the US and Canada anyway, not sure about here. In fact they scored way more hits on the second time around than the first (Million Dollars etc.).
Classic Rock 08-06-2004, 09:22 I'm a huge Poison fan - loved em back in the old days.
Got a chance to see Brett Michaels on his solo tour in 1999 in the US when on holiday in LA. I was down at the front and he TOUCHED MY HAND!!! Rikki Rocket was on drums.
They keep reforming and splitting, they toured the US a few years ago but never ventured across the pond.
Their music is often heard at the Classic Rock Bar.
Ned Ludd 08-06-2004, 10:56 Best thing Poison did was the video for "Fallen Angel" where the sleazeball get's kneed in the groin...classic! His expression!
Martin_s 08-06-2004, 11:00 Bare Naked Ladies are still going strong and I've been kicking myself for ages since missing their massive gig at the Octagon back in 2001...
Apparently they played everything they ever released and then some...
Mosherchik 08-06-2004, 11:13 They were the guys who did "One Week" werent they?
as far as I know they are still going strong, released a new single Steve Wright keeps playing it on Radio 2
not that I listen to Radio 2 :hihi:
My beloved is a survivor of the late eighties hair-metal era and when we were in the states around 2001/02 we saw the reformed Poison play the Orlando Hard Rock Cafe Auditorium (nice venue) just after CC Deville had rejoined the band.
I confess the only song I knew was "Every Rose" and even then due only to the fact that Keanu Reeves recites the lyrics to gain entry to the gates of heaven in Bill & Teds' Bogus Journey.
They were supported by Slaughter (who?), Dokken (we are Spinal Tapp) and Cinderella. The latter were my girlfriend's favourite band of the period and one she had never seen before, so the experience was a dream come true for her. Of the bands on the bill, I enjoyed Cinderella the most as they seemed to have a blues influenced sound and played a more intimate set than the other cock-rockers that night. Gypsy Road is classic that gets unfairly ignored!
BTW: didn't Barenakedladies have a song about the Beach Boy who lost his marbles and a lyric that involved chinese chicken?
noseyrosie 08-06-2004, 18:57 How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Trying hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean?
Well, you soon will.....
etcetera
Annoying song. They play it on Virgin sometimes.

Totally agree with you mate  Britains charts are just full of **** like busted and mcfly who really should be in bed by the time top of the pops starts.
What has happened?
noseyrosie 08-06-2004, 20:08 'Marketing' happened.
I saw Poison in LA maybe a year or two ago. The gig included Faster Pussycat, Winger, Cinderella and Poison.
I actually went to see 'Pussycat but TBH, they were a bit rubbish. The best band of the night was Cinderella. I was never a huge fan, but I would now say that they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Anyway - Poison...
They're (still) back together: http://www.poisonweb.com/
Ned Ludd 09-06-2004, 11:23 Pussycat had two decent songs... Bathroom Wall and eerrrr what was it? Play that Song/Favourite Record? Videos for those were quite arty I thought

''If I had a million Dollars'' is a superb song.
I've got a couple of their albums on the strength of that one hit!
There's a very close sound to a British group too, am I thinking Beautiful South?
Not sure who influenced who though?
melthebell 01-09-2006, 18:36 http://www.azlyrics.com/b/barenaked.html
plenty of barenaked ladies lyrics there
i used to like
If I Had A $1,000,000 (think i have that on cd single somewhere)
Personal barenaked ladies favourite would have to be either Pinch Me or She's on Time, though 'not a real green dress, that's cruel' counts as a class lyric to me.
Barenaked Ladies - 'One Week' is fantastic. It's the first on my playlist for running. I'm strangely fond of Poison too, though I've only got the one album: Native Tongue. Check out 'Theatre of the Soul' and 'Until You Suffer Some'; classic early 90s hair rock :) .
