Here we go. Beautiful warm evening, windows open, birds singing.............and some miserable piece of **** has lit a bonfire to burn rubbish. That's the second one tonight from a different direction AND it smells like they're burning plastic.

What's up with these ****? Doesn't their rubbish burn in cold weather?

God, don't you just hope they burn their ****** houses down!!!

Suppose they'll have their stereos on tomorrow, full blast, playing Kylie or some such ****.

Am I alone in this, or are there some thoughtless, ignorant ******** about.

My rules for having a bonfire.

a. Don't if folk are likely to have washing out.
b. Don't if folk are likely to have windows open.
c. Don't burn it at all, take it to the tip you *********.

Sorry, I'm just overheating so some **** can burn his rubbish.

Rant over.

Don't have bonfires till bonfire night in November, and even then only in VERY controlled environments, and definitely don't let the average chav anywhere near a pile of rubbish with a lit match in his hand... :loopy:

We used to have an old nutter across the road who would burn almost every night of the week in the Summer.

The nutter died a few years ago though so no more bonfires anymore. I wonder if he was cremated? :o

Judging by the smell of burning man-made fibres, it might have been a chav burning!

Know exactly how you feel. Last night, one of the hottest nights this year and we had to have the windows shut 'cos somebody thought it was an ideal opportunity to light up in their back yard.

You are not alone. The fires near me are accompanied by endless screeching from a mother at her 18 month old. Day in day out.

Endless threats to send him inside......JUST DO IT

Our chav neighbours down the road haven't started with the bonfires yet, but they always treat us to the inevitable domestic slanging match and scuffle in their back garden when the weather gets towards a nice day.

My house is a terrace in Hilsborough and part of a rougly square block that must consist of about forty or more properties that consequently have gardens backing onto one-another. For the most part it's live and let live, you put up with the noise we all make when gardening or having a barbeque, you let the kids from across the way climb over the fence and fetch their ball as long as they don't wreck the garden at the same time.

But these guys are usually creating a disturbance when everyone else is just trying to make the most of a pleasant day. The normal process involves an extended verbal barrage between man and wife that ranges from accusations of adultery and petty name-calling and sometimes goes as far as the woman pleading with the man not to kill someone (who this is, god alone knows). On top of the breach of the peace these people have kids and the police are always called by an anonymous party before things get out of hand.

To top it all off, on one occasion the police got Social Services involved and as soon as they were gone the woman was out in the garden proclaiming that whoever called them had to own up and face her wrath as she was sure her kids would be taken into care...as if that would be a bad thing!

God save us from these people.

"There is no such thing as society" ...M.T.
Consideration for others has given way to the perceived "rights of the individual" to do what they want, when they want.
I sometimes wish I lived in Germany where there is some sense of social order and respect for others...who'd have thought it 60 years after D-day.

The one that gets me is the phrase:

"It's a free country."

That one usually gets wheeled out when some tosser is engaged in an activity that while benfiting themselves causes problems for others.

If this is indeed a free country, why is it the same people who do as they please who are up in arms when someone else takes a liberty that impinges upon their freedoms?

... I think I once heard that in France you aren't allowed to use power tools on Sunday mornings. Good idea?

Reopened this thread because guess what?

Night three of the hot weather, and the third night of having to close windows at 7-8pm because of prats with fires.

Bet you that if it's cool tomorrow nobody'll burn any rubbish!:loopy:

Whenever someone brings that phrase in to a debate I know that it's not going to be worth pursuing. Freedom is associated with responsibilities and duties to society - or it should be, in my opinion. When folks start bleating about 'it's a free country' it usually means they're selfish gits who's idea of a social contract is what they sign to get their dole money.
