Jane Tomlinson.

What a woman.

What a heroine.

What a role model.

Deserves to be up there with Florence Nightingale.

I'd pretty much agree with that.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is she?

Shes a Leeds lady with terminal cancer. Shes raised thousands and thousands, probably millions, for charity.

Shes just completed a tandem bike ride from Rome to Leeds with her brother.

Amazing

Would have liked to see her do something in the Athens Olympics for the GB team.. unlike that loser Paula Radcliffe.

At least Jane has the balls for it!

Not literally, I hope! That would be hideous!

Agreed. We used to follow her story on Calendar through Sky. I'm pleased she's getting national press and media recognition.

Anyone else think Jane would be good to see in an olympic event or play some part in the GB team for the next olympics?

I know I would be very proud to see her lead team-GB into the arena in 4 years time- wouldnt you?

I don't know. There is a difference between stamina, which she has by the bucketload, and qualifying in time trials.

But she has more respect from me than I would give to any other sportsperson around.

Jane Tomlinson.......NATIONAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR.

Well done to her:clap:

Victoria Cross out of the question!!??

What a star, and possibly the only 'celebrity' who deserves our admiration.

I assume you don't have any unfounded allegations to make about any of THOSE charities then.

That wasn't supposed to be funny was it ?

Hats off to Jane Tomlinson she has done a lot to raise awareness about cancer as well money for various charities.

Just thought I'd give this thread a bump in the aftermath of her great achievement this weekend.
Given all the publicity that Paula "I'm too upset to finish the Olympic marathon but so brave for coming back and winning in New York..kerching..thanks for the £275k" Radcliffe has wrongly been given I think its about time we saluted the real heroes and brave people of our society.
Jane Tomlinson is an inspiration to us all and will hopefully long be recognised for her achievements and selflessness during what must be a difficult and stressful time for her and her family.
Our so called elite athletes and "heroes" could learn a lot from what she has achieved.

What about Jimmy Saville? He's ran tonnes more marathons that Tomlinson. He should get an OBE... AGAIN! So he'd be OBEOBE. Seems only fair after he made all those little kiddies happy. And he's really old. Jane has youth on her side.
