Cottage Pie is always minced beef and Shepherd's Pie is always minced lamb. These dishes were made from the leftovers of a Sunday roast.

Yes, this is correct. Both with mashed potato on top.Not always made from leftovers though, most people use fresh minced beef or lamb. Some people even put a few diced carrots in.

I make my Shepherd's Pie with real Shepherds....

lol

Appolo and pattricia are right,

shep's pie is made with lamb, cottage is beef (or substitute!)

it used to be that it was made from the leftovers of the sunday roast, but more often is made with fresh minced meat these days.

Generally CUMBERLAND pie has cheese on top of the mash, but that's down to choice

and of course, you HAVE to slather on the Hendoes! mmmm (I like my veggy shepherd's pie!)
