I've just noticed while trying to force a worming tablet down my cat's throat, that one of his front fangs is broken :( The top half has just snapped off. Will this cause him any pain?

Will this cause him any pain? I would take him to the vet. Even if he doesn't appear to be in any pain now, a broken tooth will be a prime site for potential infection; it could end up in an abscess or worse. The vet will probably remove the tooth. Harleykim 25-06-2006, 08:27 Oh no, that's awful, I'll take him right away. Thanx Hecate Hecate 25-06-2006, 08:32 Oh no, that's awful, I'll take him right away. Thanx Hecate You're welcome :) . One of my cats managed to break one of his fangs just last week. In his case, the remaining bit was jutting out of his mouth :o . He had a general anaesthetic for the operation to remove the tooth, and the vet took the opportunity to give the rest of his teeth a scale and polish. He had the operation in the morning, and I collected him at about 6. He was fine, if a little groggy. The vet will probably give you a course of painkillers, and possibly a course of antibiotics, to give to him in the days following the operation. |
