My 4 mm and 5 mm Addi Turbo circular needles arrived this morning. I've been playing with them while I should have been working; I just couldn't resist. They're fantastic! The join between the cable and the needle is smooth, and the needle itself is slick without being overly slippy.
The two I've just bought are for the Patrick's Pumpkin baby hat, though I ordered a couple of 2.5 mm ones last night, when I realised that the Magic Loop method was going nowhere on the cheap circular I was using. (I bought two incase I wanted to try the 'socks on two circulars' method).
Highly recommended. I'm gradually coming around to the idea that if you pay a little more for an item such as needles, you aren't necessarily just paying for the brand name, as is the case for so many other things. The Clover Takumi bamboo needles are a little more expensive than the standard ones I'd bought before, but they're really worth the extra money. It's exactly the case with the Addi Turbos.
Just wanted to echo everything positive Hecate said about the addi turbo circular needle - its so good! The transition is amazing compared to that rubbish Pony one i was using (and returned on wednesday btw with no problems to john lewis). I love it!

Glad to hear it arrived quickly :) . They're lovely, aren't they? I actually quite like the metal too, and I'm generally not a fan of that (I prefer bamboo). I don't find them too slippy, surprisingly enough. It must be the different finish on them compared to the grey aluminium ones. That and the fact that they're very light.
Yeah i like the metal finish better than the usual finish on the grey aluminium needles. it is very light and the circuar bit doesn't try and 'bend' to the way it was packaged like the pony ones. It was well worth the money! - and at that a bargain compared to John Lewis prices

The circular I used to use for socks was an Addi Bamboo, I had three pairs(?) delivered because the first two snapped in the post, and finally the needle snapped whilst I was knitting with it. So although I love the feel of bamboo on a straight needle, I would only recommend an Addi Turbo for circular knitting because of the smooth transition and feel, which are sadly lacking in the Addi bamboo circular.
Now I hate Addi's! I find them far too blunt and stumpy, so stick to my pointy inox instead!
All of the circular bamboo needles I've ever had always broke where the bamboo was joined with the plastic connector. The other thing that tended to happen it that the plastic wire which joins the 2 needles came out of the plastic casing. Either way it caused endless frustration.
I like the Addi's, hubby bought me a set of Denise interchangable needles for Christmas. Has anybody got them?
Yes, I do. I think they're ok, but i'm not too keen on the plasticyness, if you know what I mean. I also knit a lot of items at fine gauge and they don't go small enough for that.
I know what you mean about the plasticy feeling. But they are handy if you want to start something there and then, at least you might have the size already instead of buying more
