Hi
Thinking of moving into the Walkley area. Would like to hear peoples views (good or bad) on the area and surroundings.
Cheers
It's a nice area IMO, if a bit isolated, nearest buses/trams in the lower part of Walkley are right down Hillsborough or up at either Bole Hill Road or Heavygate Road which is on the outskirts of Crookes.
I lived there for over 20 years on Walkley Bank Road, we'd still live there were it not for the daft old bat next door who was a manic depressive and caused us no end of problems.

Walkley has treated me well. No particular problems, but I agree with Rich, it's a little isolated. I tend to head to Crookes or Commonside if ever I'm meeting people for a drink. The pubs in Walkley are okay, but the clientele in most tend to be pushing retirement age.
Transport is pretty good if you're near to South Road. The 95 is fairly frequent and reliable. It's a decent walk into town (40mins ish) but certainly manageable on a nice day.
Shopping- not great. There's the usual selection of newsagents and convenience stores. There's a Netto which is good for the basics, but I'm never too keen on buying their meat...
