Urban Deli - When Is It Opening ??? [Archive]

Hi,
Keep getting tormented by adverts for a new place just opposite wig & pen called urban deli (.co.uk)

Does anyone know when it is due to open. The website says nowt and the place has been a shell for weeks and weeks now ?

Oh the frustration !! We now know why people don't open their own business!!! will have been told that planning will go through by the 17th July and then it will be 2 weeks for the legals and then 3/4 weeks fit out so its on the way...... we will be advertising an opening date in the near future and open for business in Augustish/September!!!(Promise). There will be new banner at the store in July with a text number to win VIP opening tickets and other food related gifts see ya soon.

Well had to share the moment (Sorry) !! We have planning.. The fit out should start at the second/third week of August so opening around the second/third week in September. It will be cool to see ya in a few weeks and promise to remove the current Spring opening posters :-)

I've given up hoping! I walk past most days, and everytime I'm at boho for a drink it torments me. It's a shame but it's been over 6 months and nothing has happened... :(

Hi Guys

Well finally an update... We have shop fitters on site and things are moving along. The shop front will be in by the end of the week and we will be opening week commencing 30th October. We are looking for staff at the moment so if you have any experience in food retail or deli counter then i would be interested to chat to chat to you. We are paying 5.70 - 6.20 depending on experience and have both full and part-time hours.

The reason for the delay has been an ongoing issue with water penetration into the retail unit. It looks like the contractors split the outer film and soak through the concrete plate. This has finally been resolved and thats allowed us to get the fitters on site

the draw will be done over the weekend and a sms push to all unsuccessful entries with an opening week discount voucher will be sent Monday. I will contact the winner to discuss the evening booked for the 11th November.

Walked past the Urban Deli last night on my way home from work, and it's finally looking like it might actually open one day........

The interior fitting seems to be coming on nicely - is there an opening date fixed yet?

There will be a press launch on the 15th November with Radio Sheffield onsite and the doors open Thursday morning at 7.30am c u all then...

It has NOT opened.
Just walked past, paper still up against the windows, staff still working away inside on fittings etc.
What a farce. How can you advertise as opening on one day and then being clearly closed at lunch time that very day??!!

Frustration is not the word... to bring you up to date we have radio sheffield broadcasting their lunch time show tomorrow and will have a full menu on from Monday. This will include loads of items from the deli counter including meat & cheese platters, so there should be something to please everyone.

If only i'd contacted channel 4 and been featured on one of those start you own business shows you would have been hooked on the twists and turns we have had to deal with over the last six months. But open now and finally an opportunity to taste some good local produce....

We are also offering any hungry workers a free pastry between 7.30 - 9.30 with any large urban blended coffee from now until xmas. So hopefully this will help that push up to xmas...

Just been in today and am impressed with the cheeses available in the actual deli bit (as opposed to the sit in and eat food bit). Now all you need to do is make the deli bit bigger and I could do my food shopping in there.

should have more range in after xmas. Using local small suppliers means xmas is a busy time and getting orders through is a problem.... just another problem to solve... On the food/sandwich side we have some more work to do on that with graphics and a broader menu of pasta and meat/cheese platters which will be coming next week. This should be a more comfortable experience as i agree its a little stark at present.... thanks for the feedback its a great help :thumbsup:
