View Full Version : Nice restaurant for a birthday meal
My parents are coming up to stay next weekend and its my mum's birthday. Any suggestions on somewhere to take her for an evening meal?
We went to Rossi's on sharrow lane the last time they came which was lovely but wanting to try somewhere new. Also somewhere preferably either in the town centre or ecclesall / abbeydale road area, and not indian as she doesnt like curry!
Thanks!

yeah agreed, especially if you want to be made to feel like ya at a cattle market........ its good for "all you can eat" and that, but as for a meal, na.
get yourself up to ka pasa (spelling) on west street, great service and a lovely meal
i've been to jumbo's before! its ok, not exactly what i had in mind for a family birthday meal though!
and k pasa is good-i went there for my birthday in december and they were great! i still have my sombrero!!

There is a pub out through the fox-house way...Its a nice little pub with traditional home cooked food and a nice hotel in it too. Its very nice despite not being able to give you a name!
vanediaz 22-06-2006, 12:01 Hi,
I will certainly go to Jabu (chinese fondue). If you're looking for a nice experience, please go. Jabu is absolutely tiny, so, if you're planning to go, you should book in advance. Jabu is in London Road by the way
Cheers!
The best ITalian restaurant I have been to is Marco @ Milano's just off abbeydale road in Millhouses. Quality food and great for a Birthday. However you will need to book a long time in advance....
Que-Tal on Glossop Road is very good - read the review Here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/southyorkshire/greedycow/food/restaurants/que_tal.shtml)
We go regularly to celebrate birthdays etc
:D
baan thai.
fantastic, went for valentines & it did the trick alright.
Ivor&Mel 22-06-2006, 14:20 Artisan/Catch at Crosspool - used to be Thyme. A bit on the expensive side, but gorgeous food!
Tartempion 22-06-2006, 14:51 Rowsha is nice in Walkley. It's Lebanese - quite similar to Turkish/Greek/other Mediterranean cuisine.
HI
Rossi's on London road for Italian or Zing Vaa on the Moor for a Chinese. Been going to both for years not had a bad meal yet. The Spare Ribs in Rossis are fantastic and the mixed starter in Zing Vaa. I am going Saturday so might see you there. Hope it goes well.
Thanks
La Gondola is really nice if you like Italian and not too expensive its opposite Ice Bar on Carver street
Rachel C 22-06-2006, 19:08 Try Bosworths at Bramall Lane, went there for my siters brithday meal and it was excellent.
blondie-blue 23-06-2006, 10:45 Antibo's on west street is a lovely italian, as is la scala on abbeydale road, it's not very big but it's really authentic and the food is first class.
