View Full Version : Whose the GIMP around 'The Earl' Riding a minimoto?
get a life, else ill be out in my car aiming for you. (asline road)
your not wearing anything 'glowwy' and you dont deserve to breathe. sorry if i dont see you.
I've seen four of them in convoy before just up from the Earl coming round a blind corner on the pavement.
Probably the same lot who broke into my car on Saturday.
Reverse back over them for me !
Why don't you all call the police?
gremlin_mick 20-06-2006, 10:25 Why don't you all call the police?
Bwah hah hah! Thats a good one Ken, "call the police"!
The Rozzers won't turn out to someone reporting an underage scrote riding round on an illegal, untaxed uninsured deathtrap.
A) They can't catch em,
B) If they do, what happens to them? Driving ban? They don't care. A fine? On the dole so can't pay. Lock 'em up? They see it as a hazard of the "job....
It's just a pity that all these ratboys you see thrashing the arse off one of these bikes never seem to fall off or wrap themselves round a lampost...
(If my last post offends anyone who knows one of these fine upstanding citizens who HAVE actually hurt/killed themselves, go call someone who cares...)
If you don't report it then nothing can ever happen. If you do report it then something MIGHT happen. If everyone who says they have seen this all report it then something probably WILL happen. Sitting back and moaning that this is happening is one things, but then sitting back and moaning that nothing gets done when you have it in your power to do something, however minor, is much worse.
I would also point out that there have been 3 recent deaths in our area (two were in Hull I think) on these machines. If they die it is relatively cheap. If they get a spinal injury then it will cost you and I a small fortune.

But they won't pay a penny, how anoying is that ?
Bloody kids, hanging is too good for them.

Coppers do have the power to confiscate/impound/crush
Don't know if that applies to the youths riding them as well

In theory these mini motos are treated the same as other motorvehicles by the law, so what applies to a normal vehicle should also be applied to them.
This also means that if you are caught riding them in a public place that you could face charges for riding without insurance, other than in accordance with a licence, dangerous driving etc. depending on what you are doing at the time of being caught. There's also no 3rd party insurance on these things, so add that to the list too.
If you have constant problems with these things then report it as stated above, or if you want to help out get photos and / or video footage of them commiting the offences. It's your community, sitting back and saying 'nothing will come of it' isn't going to achieve anything, you've taken the time to write on here and bring it to our attention which is good, now do the next bit and report it.
do the next bit and report it.
Couldn't agree more. If they're illegal and a problem for you, make it a problem for the Police.
If they do nothing they'll eventually have to answer to why with loads of calls about the problem nothings been done.
blueaura 20-06-2006, 12:23 The vehicles may get confiscated, report it and see if anything does happen. Better still go out there and ask them politely to ride them somewhere safer off road. They might give you some verbal abuse but it just gives you some ammunition for the police.
Get the number of your local community support officer as well, they might be a bit more inclined to do something.

While that would probably be quite effective, I would keep in mind that two wrongs don't make a right.
Let the Police handle it, taking matters in to your own hands with such actions can result in you yourself being charged as well as retaliation from the riders and their chums.

. . . 10 common sense points removed, for not noticing that it was a suggestion and not a plan of action. .
MickeyBarnes 20-06-2006, 12:56 Its me!! did you see me pull that mad wheelie!? i must have got 3 feet of air that time!

10 annoying points added for a pointless reply when I simply made a post with my views.

Firstly, how are they supposed to hear you when they are doing 40mph riding a wasp in a bottle, across the Parkway in woodland?
Secondly, if they were the type of people who'd respond positively to a mild scolding, they wouldn't be breaking the law riding round on bikes, wearing caps, hoodies AND a scarf over the face. I've no desire to start cleaning glass out of my carpet or wake up smelling smoke drifting up the stairs thank you very much....
The coppers will know EXACTLY who these people are, and where they live, but there are too many people who think that these cheeky scamps need a community hug and not banging up for five years, or that the fact that they are poor and "under priveliged" is an excuse for them being complete and utter morons.

They are just kids playing on motor bikes, not hardened thugs robbing grannies at gun point, try to keep some kind of perspective.

I think G_M has a point. You make them sound oh so innocent.

Either that or a home made stinger.

Too many people 'keep some kind of perspective', do nowt, and these little toe rags just carry on.
just keep it legal
get the cops involved and keep getting them involved
Dunno about The Earl mob but we get a couple riding around Blackstock/Gleadless Road area; one just went past my front window, all dark clothing, no lights ... The other day they were causing chaos on the main road weaving in front of people - and how annoying are they mithering when they get knocked off by a proper road vehicle, i.e., a car. Cycles of all shapes and sizes are bad enough as it is, without these bloody idiots getting in the way
