Went to see this the other night......Excellent film, very tense and disturbing. Includes a scene that will have all blokes crossing your legs! It did me! (ok no spoilers)

Not easy viewing granted but raises the classic point about the dangers of internet chat rooms and the way we should deal with suspected paedophiles.
The two main characters played by Patrick Wilson and Ellen Page carry the film off superbly! Since its them who get most of the screen time.

A cracking thriller! At cinemas now! go and see!

I enjoyed it apart from the conclusion which I thought was a bit weak. Excellent performances though, and all the blokes in the pictures were wincing....

no its not...its rubbish...come on...how un-realistic...it wasnt even scary...funny if anything...the only reason it was a 18 because it was saying F**K and had pedophilia in it (Sorry cant spell)
no..i give it about 2/10...the first half is the advertisements...and the ending was crap...
sorry

I've just seen it tonight. It made me cringe at the crap flirting, laugh at the 'operation' and yeah, the end was kind of anti-climactic. It made me think as most things about paedophilia do as to what makes someone a paedophile - is it genetic etc. There was some lame excuse conjured up in the movie by the guy but it wasn't an explanation, merely a 'when it began' kind of thing. Intriguing...
The girl was meant to be 14 though? It was said early in the film that she looked older - she didn't, and that she acted older - hell yeah she did! About 30 years older...that's one precocious teen.

yea i agree...the "flirting" if u can call it was was VERY bad,...i was trying not to giggle...and im sorry but...NOONE is that obsessed with chocolate...(Raises hand lol) come on..she looked about 18...(though i actually think she was about 15..) and she can act..but...not well..morenlike ina school play

saw it the other day and really really enjoyed it! That ellen page is quite a good actress in it, although thought she was pants in x men 3!

Went to see this on saturday and thought it was the worst film I've seen in a long time. Uncomfortable but BORING....to the point of predictable. You know no more about the characters at the end of the film than you do at the start and in all honesty you don't have a clue why any of it happened.

Rubbish. Wish I'd have had the nerve to walk out....

To be fair everyone was pants in X Men 3. Shame, really, as I found myself *wanting* to enjoy it.... but really didn't.

I'm curious to see Hard Candy, though... but noone will go with me!

Oh, and she was 17 when she made it.

Id have walked out but it was actually Quiet funny...

It's pretty funny and not too long. The plot is a bit shaky in places and the ending a little cheesy but i enjoyed it all in all, and it made me laugh several times.

Hard Candy, imho, is one of the better films so far this year. The intensity of the interplay between the two leads is amazing. An uncomfortable film to sit through due to the subject matter, but the effect is akin to watching a stage performance. I was hooked throughout, always wondering which way the film would go. The use of colour to represent the mood of the film was fantastic (the early scenes are lit with a sun glow, which then flips to a filtered blue as the roles are reversed, with the sun coming back occasionally to manipulate the viewer into empathising with the characters).

This is a stunning debut film from a first time director - if you ignore made for tv movie and music videos - (who hails from Sheffield dontchaknow), and I look forward to seeing more from him in the future.

I agree Beakerzoid. It was brilliant. I have been talking about it with my sister since I saw it. I never want to see it again mind you - it was far too disconcerting. But I'm VERY glad I made the effort. And I thought the two leads did an amazing job and that the script (which I was worried before I saw it might have been terrible) was very strong. I never cringed once (well not at the acting anyway. I certainly winced once or twice ;)). I think that girl has a great career ahead of her - she was astonishing. Reminded me a bit of Jodie Foster actually. There was something so unnerving about her performance. I'll stop now before I give something away. But go and see it if you haven't already!

Average. Decent thriller and you watch as you want to know which way it will swing.

I saw this film last night and loved it. It's easily the most disturbing film I've seen since "The Devil's Rejects", and probably before then too. I liked how the girl was continually so calm throughout the film. Strangely enough, I found myself feeling a bit sorry for the guy in the first two thirds of the film.

It's quite difficult to make people feel genuinely uncomfortable whilst watching a film, especially if it's a horror/thriller because people expect to be scared. Hard Candy pulled it off though.
