Anywhere really, we used to mainly go seaside camping but dragging the kids round amusements isnt really for us. We want something more rural and where the kids can explore nature. thank you fox20thc 19-06-2006, 12:39 Im taking my kids to fieldhead campsite in edale. Not too far to travel, lovely site, lots of facilities and loads of great walks FIELDHEAD (http://www.fieldhead-campsite.co.uk/) neeeeeeeeeek 20-06-2006, 09:09 I think Rodborough fort has a camp site, it's on Rodborough common so lots of open space to run about :) It's only 30 mins form Bristol and bath, 15 mins form slimbridge wild foul trust, you can ecen see my house from the comon. :) PaulTansley 20-06-2006, 09:20 Gibralta point near Skegness is quite close, andyou could keep the kids happy to. garryn 20-06-2006, 09:40 flamorough - bemptons an rspb site. Still got the choice for the seaside stuff too waxonwaxoff 20-06-2006, 11:34 Thanks everyone, i shall have a look at these. taxman 20-06-2006, 15:56 Camping at Silverdale over in Lancashire is good, there are still some Red Squirrels in the area, plus it's close to Leighton Moss RSPB reserve which has rarities such as Bitterns, Marsh Harriers and Bearded Tits Longcol 20-06-2006, 17:47 Area around Ely in Cambridgeshire is great - Wickham Fen & the Widfowl & Wetlands Trust place at Welney are both brilliant (see link below for a flavour). http://www.bbc.co.uk/cambridgeshire/out_about/2002/10/autumn_walks.shtml#wildfowl This campsite has some good reviews. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=1354 Also lovely walks by the river in Ely itself. Not sure how many nature reserves or RSPB / Wildfowl places will let dogs in. KenH 20-06-2006, 18:04 I can recomend http://www.caravanholidayhomes.com/ The link suggests it is a caravan site but actually it is a very small site with a nice camping area. The camping part has a childrens play area. The beach is about 200 yards away. There is a small indoor swimming pool which is never crowded. There is a major bird breeding area about 2 miles away along the coast. The only problem with it is that it is in the back of beyond and the nearest decent sized shop is about 4 miles away although there is a tiny shop in the village. |
