There is a pigeon that has been sitting for ages on my patio. Occasionally it walks around for a few minutes then sits again. It has rings on its legs, is it just tired? Is there any one I can call to help?

You might try reading Gertrude Stein's famous poem on a similar experience in order to glean insights into how to respond appropriately. Here it is: 'Pigeons on the grass alas. Pigeons on the grass alas. Short longer grass short longer longer shorter yellow grass. Pigeons large pigeons on the shorter longer yellow grass alas pigeons on the grass. If they were not pigeons what were they. If they were not pigeons on the grass alas what were they. He had heard of a third and he asked about it it was a magpie in the sky. If a magpie in the sky on the sky can not cry if the pigeon on the grass alas can alas and to pass the pigeon on the grass alas and the magpie in the sky on the sky and to try and to try alas on the grass alas the pigeon on the grass the pigeon on the grass and alas. They might be very well they might be very well very well they might be. Let Lucy Lily Lily Lucy Lucy let Lucy Lucy Lily Lily Lily Lily Lily let Lily Lucy Lucy let Lily. Let Lucy Lily'. Personally, I prefer T.S.Eliot, but each to his own floyd77 19-06-2006, 08:50 There is a pigeon that has been sitting for ages on my patio. We had a racing pigeon in our garden once - as it was tipping down and night time we took it in for the evening (in a box with food & water) and let it go the next morning. It left on its own after a few minutes. There is a website where you can match the ring number to an owner - you could give him/her a ring and ask if you can do anything. google racing pigeons. owdlad 19-06-2006, 09:08 Just keep the cats and dogs away from it Deb, and when it regains it's strength it will fly back to it's home loft, where the owner will probably neck it for being late home. |
