There is a pigeon that has been sitting for ages on my patio. Occasionally it walks around for a few minutes then sits again. It has rings on its legs, is it just tired? Is there any one I can call to help?

I know a local restaurant who might be interested :)

You might try reading Gertrude Stein's famous poem on a similar experience in order to glean insights into how to respond appropriately. Here it is:

We had a racing pigeon in our garden once - as it was tipping down and night time we took it in for the evening (in a box with food & water) and let it go the next morning. It left on its own after a few minutes.

There is a website where you can match the ring number to an owner - you could give him/her a ring and ask if you can do anything. google racing pigeons.

Just keep the cats and dogs away from it Deb, and when it regains it's strength it will fly back to it's home loft, where the owner will probably neck it for being late home.
