View Full Version : New Star Trek & Sci-fi club
Steel_City_Ady 02-06-2004, 07:58 The U.S.S. Sheffield Star Trek Club was formed in Spring 2004. It is the intention of this club to show episodes of Star Trek from all five of the series so far, and all ten of the feature films.
The club will also actively encourage socialising, games, talks, role-playing and a whole lot more.
We're not just going to limit ourselves to Star Trek either: with all the Sci-Fi around at the moment we hope to feature shows such as the new Battlestar Galactica, the new Blakes 7, new Dr Who and much, much more.
Posters have been placed, and online advertising is underway. This club is associated with SFC Quadrant Two and Dundee's U.S.S. Intrepid Star Trek Club.
At the moment we're collecting details of those interested, so please contact me via the email address below, using the subject title 'Sheffield Star Trek'. I look forward to meeting you!

capthunter 06-06-2004, 10:52 Hello Adrian.
Hope you get some interest. I'm sure there must be some Trek fans in the Sheffield area who'd like to get together to make some new friends.
For anyone who's interested, when we started this up in Dundee, it was basically a social group (and still is) who would meet up for meals, trips to the cinema, the pub, stuff like that. And of course, chat about our shared interests.
It's a lot of fun. And a great way to make new friends.
I used to write my own Star Trek stories in Word, with a ship called the USS Spacehawk (homage to Terrahawks) Captained by a crew based on myself (the Captain) and various mates from over the years.
I'm thinking about doing a few more if I can find the time, might see if I can make a book one day, you know get me name in print as a published author.
KER-CHING!
capthunter 06-06-2004, 17:20 Oh you should chat to Adrian. He'll talk your ear off on Trek fiction.
For my own part, I'm currently busy making an amateur Trek movie. Which is proving to be both immense fun, but rather expensive.
I remember Terrahawks well. Ah, good memories of Sunday teatimes.
Steel_City_Ady 08-06-2004, 18:10 I do indeed talk ears off.
Hazard of no life and a big website

Roll up roll up!!
Have sent an email as per original post. Not a true Trekker but do like the films and hope to learn more from the club. Could be a good social thing too especially with the film showings etc
Steel_City_Ady 09-06-2004, 18:41 Social aspect is the most important!

capthunter 09-06-2004, 18:53 Very true.
Actually, up in Dundee, we spend most of our time going out for dinner and going to movies.
Oh, and working on our film, but that's another story. ;)
Steel_City_Ady 11-06-2004, 07:44 Never had the crew size to do that here, nor the expertise. But with the new arrivals, anything is possible. It's their club...

[where's the cider?]
Is this just a student thing?
capthunter 13-06-2004, 22:16 Nope, it's just a general social thing. Everyone is welcome, students included I would presume.
If you're interested, drop Adrian a line. It's his baby, I'm just helping him out. :)
Steel_City_Ady 14-06-2004, 12:40 To follow-up Nick, basically there IS a sheffield university club, but this club is for ANYONE.
Why should students have all the fun?
Ady
Hurrah! Students have enough bloody fun anyway!
I like the fact that although it will have a Star Trek bias, it'll be for other stuff too.
Keep me posted!
Cool on the film stuff. I was involved in low budget feature and short production for a few years. Am currently involved with a slightly dormant production company.
It's great fun but can be soooo expensive!

capthunter 20-06-2004, 15:19 I believe the meetup Adrian is planning is to discuss the club and what people want to do. Aunt Sallys on the 26th.
steel_ady 13-05-2005, 16:56 Update of the Star Trek and science fiction group, please go to the forum at:
