Hi there,

Just thought I'd let all interested parties know the Springwood Pub is due to undergoe a major refurb.

(i) All the electrics are to be done,

(ii) New smoking facility for us smokers for when the new law comes into
effect next year,

(iii) Lounge to be made into a family room, with entertainment and food being
served daily.

(iv) Outside is all being fenced and walled off to accomodate a children's area
(great for summer) with tables etc. This will have seperate access to the
pub so children are isolated from the tap room.

(v) Interior to be re-decorated in all rooms.

I was just wanting to know peoples thought on the refurb, as the owners have already done considerable things to the pub. Things like turning it around, no trrouble etc.

I got barred from the Springwood in 1977 so I don't care what they do to it if I can't go in!

It's not a bad pub, I've seem more trouble in The Richmond up the road, but it has a bad reputation.

I think if you were barred in 1977 - you may be allowed back in!

There is a canopy being built outside the pub so even in winter the elements should'nt bother us all that much!

I am not sure if I have ever been in to this pub, if not it will be one of the few in sheffield that I haven't, but whatever you are having done, please don't take any walls down to make the rooms bigger.

One of the greatest tradgedies in the last 30 years is the loss of individual rooms in pubs. Take out the partitions and you take away the character.

With partitions, you can have a room with a disco, a seperate room for those who want to chat, a room for those who want to eat, a room where children are allowed. Far better than a huge room which is a complete racket, which will be popular with young drinkers for one summer, while driving all the regulars out.

I can assure no walls will be knocked down!
