Can anyone recommend anyone to do some work in my garden?
I am looking to have decking put down and the odd bit of garden work.
I am really looking for personal recommendations from people about people or companies they've used, so if you've got someone to recommend let me know and if there's someone I should avoid please also let me know (if you want to recommend I avoid someone and don't want to post it please PM me).
Thanks
I got mine done through Dan Reaney Groundworks last year. He is based at Meersbrook and his number is :0787621274.

Try Tom at Tom Moore Landscaping - www.tommoorelandscaping.co.uk - he works alot in Rotherham and Sheffield, has a brief portfolio on his website and even the call to him is an 0800 free call. Give him a try.

Well one person we had round won't be getting the job.
He agreed to call at 6 the other week, then at 6.35 he called to say he had another job on at 6 and wouldn't be round until the next day, bad start....
He turned up on the second day on time, but then quoted £2,000 for the job we wanted!
We got a quote from a second person that was very friendly and turned up on time etc. and he quoted us £1,300 for exactly the same thing.
I had a word with a mate that's just done his own garden though and he managed to get all the decking with a 30% trade discount and lay it himself for a total of £245. He came round, messured up and ordered our materials which totalled £375 and now there are 3 of us planning on fitting it over the next few weekends.
Quite a saving and it should be an interesting challenge for me (although my mate's good at decking it seems from his own one).

Well it's nearly finished now.
We decided to do it ourselves and I got a mate to help me. It's cost less than £1,000 and the cheapest quote we got to have it done was £1,300 with the most expensive being £2,000.
The strange thing is that it's actually been quite enjoyable building it, chopping the wood, mixing the cement and angle grinding the remains of the old outhouse to take the decking around the corner.
We now have a nice L shaped decking area with blue LED uplights in the wood.
I now have the rest of the garden to do, currently just mud, but it's definately taking shape very quickly.
Some photos of the work in progress and the almost finished decking (just got to board the sides of it by the steps down to the lower garden and neaten a brick wall).
