I recently bought a kworld DVB-T PlUS tv tuner from maplin. Basically you plug it into a USB port, plug your arial into it, load software and you can watch tv on your laptop.
The problem is software isn't picking up any channels when scanning for signal. It doesn't work with their crappy suplied arieal, an indoor tv arial or the external tv arial. Arials are working because they work with the tv. It also says my reception is zero on the screen
so i'm stuck and annoyed.
Anyone got any ideas? could it be a hardware fault? I expect it is but i refuse to allow this because i can't get near maplin for weeks grrrrrr

I have a similar type of DVB box that wires up to my computer, i also have cheap £1 land indoor Ariel that is sat on my worktop in a downstairs kitchen.
I can receive all freeview and analogue channels, so the statement that you make is wrong.

Riptony you welcome to try the DVB tv tuner on my computer if you like, that is the only way to
tell for certain if it working or faulty?

He isn't wrong at all. You need a suitable ariel for Digital TV, either internal or external. If you have managed to get Digital TV through a normal ariel you're one of the very lucky few. I had to get a new "Digital Ariel" fitted even though the mast is less than half a mile from my house, I can see it from the window!
I'd check the ariel first, if you read the instructions I'm sure it will say "use a suitable digital ariel" or something similar.

you are very lucky I stand by my statement with a proviso if you live on arbourthorne you will recieve a good signal and they will work correctly
generally the supplied aerial does not work in 95% of uk
