Has anyone been here? Got a table booked for Friday on the strength of one recommendation from work but thought you lovely forumsters would give better views.

We went to the Vida Loca quite a few times last year when we lived in Hillsborough. We were impressed by the quality of the food and everything was reasonably priced. The first time we went, they served each course in quick succession (Sheffielders don't seem to like waiting for their food). So next time, we asked for a break between courses and they were happy to oblige. We went on a variety of evening, mid-week and weekends, and it was always reasonably busy. The couple who ran it were very different (she was very friendly, he was a bit distant) but all in all, I'd recommend it for a night out. My only reservation is we're talking about a year ago so I'm unaware of any recent changes.

I've been to this one many times and have never been disappointed (I actually wrote the review for it on the BBCi South Yorkshire webpage, among others...sorry to blow my own trumpet).

Went a month or so back and nothing has changed, the food is still good and reasonable in price and the place is full on a weekend.

In general a very good Hilsborough restaurant.

I've been and enjoyed it! Going again soon.

It's now the best Italian in hillsborough, but I always favoured Roberto's. But if we go for an Italian now it's too la vida loca.

I went at Christmas and all was OK. Staff were very friendly and the food portions were huge!

I got A groupon offer for the place.. Half price food!! Can't wait to use it!

This place always looks empty when I go past and it puts me off a bit. Sounds good from this though. Might give it a try.

Its lovely! Its small, but not too small. The food is always spot on too. Although this is coming from someone who has family working there so maybe biased!

Ah yes, I have been there, its a nice small restaurant in the middle of hillsborough, does lovely food and the service was good (only been once though)

According to Ricky Martin, it means The Crazy Life (as in - Living La Vida Loca) and I don't think he's Italian ;)

You should go eat there, and find out how the name came about!

It'd be an appropriate name if it's cuisine was from the Cuban end of the Carribean.

It's a Spanish/Mexican restaurant, not an Italian. It's name alone gives a very good hint regarding that.

Very good though.

With Bella Roma and Sette Colli too, Hillsborough is really well served for good Mediterranean restaurants.
