View Full Version : Don't worry, and drink Beer !
Not worrying and drinking Beer may have helped a woman become world's oldest woman aged 114 - unfortunately she's passed away due to pneumonia :

What things are you doing to stay healthy and live longer ? How old would you like to live ?
Quality not quantity ....
Agent Orange 01-06-2004, 10:28 I'd like to think that I have a fair few years left in me yet. Can only hope!!
Anyway, if you want to know your life expectancy then visit:
www.bbc.co.uk/apps/ifl/health/gigaquiz?infile=health_calculator&path=calculator_living
i eat healthily - get my 5 fruit n veg a day, gym at least 4 times a week including cardiovasular sessions
i try not to get stressed out
i do binge drink though i guess - i get totally smashed most weekends, not sure how much that 'undoes' all the good work i put in
how long do i want to live... for as long as i can! although i wouldn't want to be dependant on other people so that aside and assuming i have all my faculties 124 years old please! :D
mimicraze 01-06-2004, 11:30 wicked 86.4 is good enough for me:D doesnt mean i wont die crossing the road lol
Agent Orange 01-06-2004, 12:05 84.8 for me. Oh well, better start planning as I've only got 56 years left.
90.2 for me ... failed on the sun bathing and not drinking tea (although I drink green tea all the time).
interesting about the asprin though ... thining your blood.
think i have an allergy to the stuff but may try taking some (1/4 tablet a day to begin).
anyone take asprin to thin the blood ?
i got 85.6 not bad!!!! :) :)
I got 90.8 - so I guess I should take my pension contribution review a little more seriously !

I wouldn't bother taking it every day to thin the blood unless you have a recognised condition, otherwise you may end up with stomache ulcers.
In the case of cardiac disease the risks of aspririn are outweighed by the blood thinning benefits.
If you think you have an allergy, get it checked out before you start necking aspirin fgs.
If you are healthy then aspirin is just going to place a load on your stomache without benefitting you anywhere else.
I would look into drugs like Piracetam, Nootropil and Hydergine, combined with a diet high in EFAs and dietary choline and lecithin -that may help retard ageing effects on the brain, with few, if any, harmful side effects.
those questions are pretty inflexible though!!
also the BMI is insufficiently sophisticated - i mean to put it into context the England rugby team would probably all be overweight according to the index yet they are some of the fittest guys around without an ounce of fat on them
qazitory 01-06-2004, 13:11 I got 89.2 years !!! Only 68 years left!!!
Working out your BMI by just using figures is usually ok for fairly normal people, but it doesn't apply to people who have a lot of muscle. As the weight of the muscle is assumed to be fat. For people like that, they have special weighing scales to work out the figure.

Yes ... and further more ... 'fit' does not always equate to 'healty'.
A person can be physically fit ... yet still be unhealthy.
Rugby players put their bodies under a lot of stress and although they may have big muscles and look cool on the field ... they also put a lot of stress on intetnal organs.
As the saying goes ... a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link .... I think too much physical fitness can be dangerous if it puts your whole system out of balance.
81.2 for me.
But meh, I don't really take much notice of stuff like that... I'll kipper it when him upstairs decides he's had enough of me, not when some BBC test says I will :D
ZEDEX48K 01-06-2004, 13:50 BMI - 23
