Can anyone tell me the type of ivy that is growing up the Firth building on the right hand side of Western Bank (walking towards Broomhill).
Same type of ivy also being used as ground cover on Glossop Road opposite The Harley.
It is green (no yellow bits in it), leaves are shiny about 3 inches in diameter and shaped a bit like a maple leaf.
Want some for my garden but not seen this type on sale.
Thanks
Are you sure it's ivy?
I always thought it was Virginia creeper.
Granma.
It might be Boston Ivy (http://www.crocus.co.uk/findplant/results/?ContentType=Plant_Card&ClassID=1000001556&CategoryID=).

You are correct.

Not that I'm condoning criminal damage, obviously, but ivy is very easy to grow from the tinyest cutting, if you can get a bit with some roots on too, even better. Make sure you get the end of a "tentacle" if possible, place on top of a pot of compost (no ned to "plant" it as such), water and keep warm and sunny, it will start rooting in a couple of weeks.

And once you've got it in your garden, you'll probably never be able to get rid of it again...

lol - tell me about it. Just spent the last week taking an Ivy-covered fence down. The Ivy was the only thing holding it up but it resisted all attacks for some time before it eventually succumbed to my stronger willpower....
