We have managed to connect all the bits and bobs to our 'normal' computer, to enable us to get a wireless connection for our new laptop. The new laptop has picked up the wireless connection, but then nothing is happening, and it wont connect to the internet???? Does anyone know why this would be, do we have to change some settings somewhere??? Oh god, this is a nightmare, I have read thru some previous posts regarding wireless and it seemed so easy, but thats just my luck, everything turns into a nightmare!!! Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks

I thought wireless would be easy as well - we had 2 pcs linked to a router but everytime the screensaver came on we had to disable the network then re-enable it to make it connect. Binned it in the end.

All I can suggest is that you ensure the laptop has the connection enabled and that if you have security enabled on you systems that the access codes are the same.

Good luck.

Click Start- Connect To- Show all connections-Right click on your Wireless Connection- Properties-Click Wirless Networks- Make sure there is a tick mark at the side of "Use windows to configure my wireless connection"-Click ok.

Disable any software program that came with your usb adapter and thats it.

Click Start, Control Panel, Internet and Network Connections, double click on Wireless Network Connection, click Properties, click Advanced tab, and tick the box "Allow network users to connect through this computer's internet connection, then click OK.

I assume that you would have to do that on the main pc, but I'd also do the same on the second pc.

You have to install on every computer that you are using for the internet the drive for the USB adapter. The drive will be on a cd, there will also be a software program on the cd in order to to adjust the settings for the signal but I prefer windows xp to do this thats why I disable this software.

John, I hope you mean "drivers", and not "drive"?

I was thinking the same thing, but couldn't remember what I needed the drivers on the cd for ~ wireless network card or the router. I thought it was the network card, because I'm sure the router was plug and play.

However, I don't have Linksys, so it may be different.
