Hi everyone,
I've just discovered this knitting group - it's so cool!
Anyway, I was wondering if someone could help me...I've got the over-whelming urge to knit an 80s style bat wing jumper in some kind of sparkly wool, three quater lenGth sleeves if poss but I can't find a pattern anywhere. I've looked on all the internet knitting pattern sites I can find, and eBay, but alas, no luck!
Can anyone suggest anything???? :help:

Hi stumbleine  .

I must admit that I haven't come across a pattern for a batwing jumper, but I'll certainly have a search for you. Beware of the sparkly wool though - it can be very itchy :) .

Hi Hecate:thumbsup:
That's cool, cheers very much! Yes, I am aware of the itchyness but for fashion's sake, I will suffer!

Right, I've had a bit of a search. The ones I came up with are:

This (http://www.berroco.com/187/187_veronique.html) one from Berroco, which claims to have batwing sleeves, but doesn't look very bat-winged to me. It's a free pattern, though you would probably have to substitute the yarn.

There's also this (http://www.thewoolshack.com/rebecca_ggh.htm?action=display&PatternID=2808&BackText=Rebecca%20Book%2029) pattern from issue 29 of Rebecca. This magazine is available from Get Knitted (http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/copy_of_GGH_Yarns.html).

I'll have a look to see if I can find anything that looks a bit more 80s.

Have you thought about checking at the library? Sometimes libraries can be a repository for old knitting books from the 80s, which might have a couple of batwing jumper patterns in them. The style was huge in the 80s, as I recall.

That's really helpful, ta...yeah, I've looked in Sheffield central library but there doesn't seem to be many books on knitting -just a couple on chunky knits etc.
