View Full Version : Rubbish in the Peak District
ps201acm 08-06-2006, 21:20 This sort of post may have been done before but i've just been for a walk in the peaks and I wanted to mention that people dropping rubbish there does my nut!!! What is with people? who do they think will clean it up the ******* rubbish fairy? !!!! Ive seen it at a walking area about a mile after the fox house and at edale and at castleton. Please excuse my anger but the stupidity and disregard of these people beggers belief. Thanks for reading. Ash
Saw a neatly-folded nappy, an empty (presumably, I don't go over to check) fag packet and an empty bottle of orange juice in a neat little pile on the beach today.
I'd love to know what goes thru people's heads when they leave their rubbish behind. I suspect they don't think anything, tho. I think that's the trouble.
I know it's funny when i go to outdoor parties in the peaks and we pick up more rubbish than we leave. old rusted cans and all kinds of junk.
But always take pride in leaving the country in a tidier state then when i got there :D
It's so annoying isn't it.If I see someone drop litter or leave dog poo I feel compelled to tell them to sort it out, whether I'm in the city or countryside. Most people just tell you where to go,but I feel better for telling them anyway!
I live in Bradwell in the peak district, and our village is appauling for litter, when I go to the park with the kids,I have to tidy it up everytime,as if I don't do that enough when I'm at home! the next day it will be as bad again, the teenagers and younger who hang out there have absolutely zero respect for what a beautiful place they live in.
I have wondered about taking photos and showing there parents, but I'd just get done for it-can you photograph other peoples kids? And no doubt something would mysteriously happen to our car/garden/windows..
We must not tolerate it though!

Yeah I think it's rubbish too :hihi:
craigmason 09-06-2006, 08:31 I think you will find its people living in the big cities around the peak district dropping the litter as they do not care about the environment around them. So when they visit the countryside they just drop litter instead of holding on to it until they find a bin .

I do not think it is just people who visit from the cities that deposit rubbish.
Just have a look when out how much litter is caused by farmers ie empty fertiliser bags, old tyres used to cover silage etc but just left strewn about, bits of rusting farm macinery etc Their are thoughtless people from all areas
and lifestyles.

bananapie 09-06-2006, 09:42 Last year some thick as **** idiot dumped some old TVs/computer monitors over the wall opposite Fox House. Obviously it's easier to drive to the Peaks to dump rubbish than drive to a tip :loopy:
lalaland 09-06-2006, 15:01 We went for a walk the other week with our dog just up near suprise view.
It was my girlfriend's turn to pick up the dog's poo in the bag so she did. We also had some litter and looked for a bin.
There wasn't one bin up there to be found! We checked two car parks and several path areas, but not one bin.
We ended up taking the stuff home with us and throwing it in the bin there as that seemed to be the right thing to do, but it wasn't too pleasant.
I don't think it gives people the right to throw litter, but think that if there were some bins placed in the areas where people park there would be less litter on the floor.

You're joking right ?
lalaland 09-06-2006, 15:36 You're joking right ?
I doubt they are joking, I've seen rubbish or waste left innapropriately by farmers and their staff over the years. I can't remember seeing any while in the peak district recently, but I have certainly seen this before in different places.
Perhaps if the farmers spent more time tidying-up and less time actually trying to earn a living the Peaks would look much nicer for our day trips ?

I suspect you are now joking. I wouldn't expect farmers to be the cleaners of the countryside, I think everyone should take responsibility for their own litter.
However farmers shouldn't dump stuff there in the same way that the rest of us shouldn't.
You're joking right ?
No I was not joking
I find it insulting for you to post as such.

Why post your complaint after making such an effort of identifying the rubbish items then not removing them:?
Ok, so it's not your crap but...................?
