ok, this is my problem at the moment.
I have made two socks from the toe up at the same time on one circular needle. No problem. Now I want to knit two socks from the top down at the same time on a circular needle. I can't seem to get the cast on right.
I am using a long-tail cast on and I've surfed the net for inspiration. Some people tell you to cast on half of the first sock then all of the second sock, slip these onto the cable and create the loop; then cast on the rest of the first sock. This is where I am hitting the hurdle. When I try to cast on the rest of the first sock the stitches are on the bottom needle and I need them on the top to have the tail and working yarn in the right place. I have tried slipping the stitches purlwise on the the top needle but then the tail and working yarn are the wrong way round from the second sock. They both have to be facing the same way to do magic loop.
I have also tried closing the loops as in this (http://www.knitaddicted.com/files/MagicLoop.pdf) link but to no avail.
Has anybody accomplished this before? If so can you tell me how? Perhaps I need to use another cast on method but can't find one that would give me a loose cast on for the top of socks.
:help:
