Is anyone going to Old Trafford on Sunday 18th June? I am and I'm quite excited - It probably won't come to anything but it'll be a fun day out with a picnic! If we get there early enough we might even see Shane Ward performing (ooh the joy).

Not sure what to sing though - I have to prepare 2 songs (verse and chorus) Presently thinking China in Your Hands but not sure for the second... any suggestions?:)

didn't know that...just a really really good track!

also 'you're in love' by wilson philips...but they do use 3 part harmonies on a lot of their stuff so it would never sound as good even if you were one of the band!

just dont do the usuall suspects... whitney housten, aguleria, spears, joss stone blah blah..

for a bit more upbeat how about the bangles version of 'hazy shade of winter'

Good luck Absynth - from one Joey to another!!

Wish I was brave enough to do it, but I'd wither and die under Simon's criticism! :gag:

I'm going to be really nervous but I figure I might as well give it a shot - I'll only spend all of the next series thinking "I could do better than that" otherwise...

Definately gonna do T'Pau - but still undecided about the second. Mtheo you keep suggesting songs I've never heard of! (but thats ok - makes me feel younger - it's bad enough ending up in the "oldies category")

Hi guys, hope you're all well. Anyroad......

AAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!!!!!!

Dilemna.

My name is Sy and, for my sins, i live in Hull. Chin up, eh? Anyroad, a couple of friends are going to the auditions and i've been asked to join them, so being as singing is my passion, i'd love to. But i've only just ben asked, so haven't had the time to sort out the photo ID required. I don't have a current passport and i don't drive. All i have photo-wise is a 'Moneyshop' card with my pic, name and date of birth on it, that can be backed up by my birth cert and other stuff. Will this be enough, or is there any way to get something more official before that time.

It's just that it'll be the day before my birthday and, being as i can't afford a hotel room, i'm gonna have to spend the night before the audition in the back of a VW. I know. Pathetic. Being turned away at the last moment would be just my luck.

If anyone can help me with info, i would be eternally grateful. Thanks for reading this far into my essay.

Big hugs

Sy

oh yeah, my email is nukkisuxx@hotmail.com if you could send info there. If not, i'll check back to this board. Love ya Sheffield

bye bye

oh yeah, and good luck if you get to the auditions

Good luck with your audition honey bun.
I love china in your hand.
I would recommend a more upbeat song for your second, just as a bit of a contrast.
The judges would probably like to hear something different, a breath of fresh air, try and think of something that no-one else would sing. Maybe a one hit wonder or a really old song, but give it your own modern twist.

Anyway enjoy it...i will see you there, what are you wearing and i'll look out for you.

I'm kind of thinking that too.
Pretending to be really crap just to get through to see the judges.
Youve either gotta be really pants or really fab to get through.
I'm kinda average and am thinking of maybe dressing like tweety pie and singing
chirpy chirpy cheep cheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the kind words...

Finally decided on my second song - Sweet Child O Mine, the Sheryl Crow version...Going for a spray tan tonight and go to bed very early on Saturday night...! Doors open at Old Trafford at 9 - want to be there half 6/7 ideally!

Very excited and very nervous!:)

Edit: OOh sorry - I think I'm wearing black smart shorts, red vest and a waistcoat, black beads and red shoes. I'll be with a lad - my mate ryan who I'm in a band with but we're not auditioning together...unless neither of us gets through then we might join the groups que!

it could work... of cause the other way is to start an argument with simon cowell etc. insult his high waste band or something.

Well. What an absolute farce the auditions were. I need to have a rant:rant: .

I arrived at the auditions at 7.45 - expecting a que as doors were not meant to open until 9am. Me and my friend qued quite happily until 11am - the ques was steadily moving and by that time the end was in sight. However at 11am they let about 200 people in and then nothing happened for about an hour. At lunctime the camera crews started filming the crowd shots and were getting people to scream and shout and do those silly X things with their arms which is all well and good but this went on for 2 hours! By this time the heavens had opened and it was raining pretty heavily - at which point the producer fella announced the judges were coming. They handed out posters and banners (skegness has the X-Factor! My mum is gonna win! sort of thing) to those at the sides and said that the judges wouldn't come till all the umbrellas had been put down. I nearly walked off at this point. Cold wet and no coffee!

They filmed the judges walking through the crowds, some car razzing about and unending screams and shouts of the crowd before finally letting us into to Old Trafford at 3pm....7 hours after I initially got there. I was handed a sticker and the we wandered around for a while as no one seemed to know what was going on or where we were meant to go. We went and got a coffee and went to sit in the stands. After a few minutes it became apparent what was going on. For each block of seats was one "judge" (god knows who they were) sat behind the barrier leading on the the pitch. People were lining up one by one to sing right in the persons face to be told yes or no. The yes' got a yellow ticket and went on to audition 2 - the TV producers. People very quickly pushed forward and it was a bit of a riot. I was sat next to a woman who had wandered in at 1pm to "see what the fuss was about". Auditions took place for about an hour - with a handful of people getting yellow tickets.

They then stopped the auditions AGAIN and proceeded to film crowd action for a further hour and a half, inculding Kate Thorntons links for the show, the show opening, the judges etc... THEN they bring Shane Ward out to give us a "pep talk" and then he proceeds to MIME his two stupid singles! Oooh I was mad at this point. The audacity of it!

Auditions started up again at 5ish - only this time to make it "fair" the judge would come to you in in your seat. Oh it was so humiliating. We gave it an hour - they cleared about 1 row of people and I finally resigned myself to the fact it wasn't going to happen - ot at least for another 4 hours. So we went home. 10 hours after we had initially arrived.

I am so livid with ITV - feel like I did a days UNPAID work (which cost ME £5 to park) as an extra. And I know it was my decision to go and maybe I shouldn't have thought anything else would happen but even so - I needed to rant:rant:

It just amazes me that after all this time the general public fail to understand the truth behind these programmes - I went along knowing full well that I was going to be in front of TV producers and record exec's before even thinking about Simon Cowell and co. but the vast majority of drones that turned up all thought they were guaranteed a proper audition and stood a good chance of getting through....and were more than happy to comply with the production crews demands to shout scream and make a general tit of themselves.

I'm just glad I went with my eyes wide open and knew when it was time to cut my losses and walk away. It's made me realise just how much it all isn't for me and made me appreciate my band and a live audience so much more!

er....i think they have already been. Might help if you read the thread:)

The whole thing IS a waste of time, maybe next year AF you won't spend 10 miserable hours proving it to yourself!

Gosh - my old thread from last year! I re-read that just as I was contemplating going this year and am not glad I did and have realised the error of my ways!

Not for meeee!

Whats with all these newbies suddenly talking about the x factor anyway?

I'm suspicious:suspect:
