I was up near Deepcar Station yesterday, and i noticed that the remaining platform that was previously overgrown under a lot of weeds and nettles etc, had been cleared back, and the wall at the back of the platform, and the brickwork on the platform istelf had been repointed.

I also noticed that some fresh balast had been laid on the track, and the small trees and weeds etc cleared from the side of the line, where the 2nd trackbed used to be.

Anyone know whats happening? Seems like an awful lot of work for no particular reason?

25 quid to go to Deepcar and back? Are First Buses setting the fares or something?

Interesting links... Is this project ever going to come into being? The website seems a little out of date in terms of "forthcoming events" etc.

I, for one, would find it of great use so long as it was to be a "proper" railway, rather than just a tourist steamy thingy (sorry for the technical language :hihi: )

This probably warrants a new thread - sorry for hijacking this one.

Of the course the line is still in use twice a day for a freight train to Stocksbridge. They tend to go over the Wicker arches at about 7 and 8-15 each evening.

We are aware that the website is a tad out of date, but it will be updated in the next few weeks.
