I've lived in France for a few months now and watched TV very occasionaly as its complete rubbish here. Nothing to be proud of but I haven't paid my tv license, and I got a letter ordering me to pay under 8 days or I'd be in trouble with the law. I'm moving back to the UK in less than 2 weeks now and I'm just thinking its not worth it!! Can anyone think of any excuse to get out of it??
Cheers!!
Get a black and white TV and the cost is much lower.

Just send them a letter back saying you dont have a TV.
By the time they get it, and respond... you'll be back in the UK anyway... so who cares!
Send them an unsigned cheque for the amount. By the time they sort it out you'll be back in England.
LOL!! thank you so much for that.
What I'll actually do is a bit of both: Send them a letter explaining I'll pay by cheque ( I haven't got a chequebook see)when I get paid and I'll have been back ages by the time they send a reply! Thanks again!!!!!
Its about half the price to get a b/w license. The odd thing is that if you're blind, they give you something like £3.50 off. If I was blind, I'd watch in black and white......
