I heard something a lil while ago that Zeros (reflective) were opening a all nighter club up???Called Rockies or something. Any-one know if this is true?If so where could i find it?

i think someone is telling you some mistruths, i know .zero recently got 6am license but its only for planet zogg.

I went last friday for the first time, to this venue and really didnt like it, too big, and felt like the venue ruined it, my friends came from manchester especially as we all love UG, and they too were disapointed, such a shame as il think twice about going now :( bloody love UG too!!!!grrrr

Bring back Charles Street!!

hehehehe i liked it at the earl, that was class. the room upstairs to chill in n nice n small downstairs, was classy with the tables area and the candles. oh well :(:(

Never went to the old night (didn't live here then) but went to see the Stanton's at Zero and it rocked!! It was full without being a crush, the sound system was high quality (note: quality more important than volume) without splitting your ears...

Maybe you just saw the wrong night??

Someone from the forum told me bout Urban gorrilas, it's good apparently, I ought to give it a go sometime, never been there yet...

Who wants to meet up soon then? I alwayd try and drag someone there, usually don't, so go solo. Still enjoy it. Very Friendly faces and friendly people and all that!

I think zeros a pretty cool venue, especially anyone who had the misfortune to go a few years back (europa? or something equally as bad)

Take it back to Charles St and you wouldnt get the line ups you've got now

I had a wicked night on friday (good to see you there mimi!). I thought the music was ace and the atmos, even better. But then i was battered and out with my best mates so i'd have probally had a good time anywhere!!

I think i've posted my views on this a few times. I think zero is quality, just the right size for the crowd, decent layout and intimate. Sound system is class! Charles street was a dump, wasn't really like a club at all. more like a school dining room. As mentioned already, UG had to move to a better, decent venue for the sake of progress. I think they've made a really good decision with the move, and i think thats backed up by the crowds they're pulling. Obviously something must be working if they're packing out a place that must be 3 times the size of previous venues.

I think it's packed out with people who tend to go to Zero regulary rather than UG fans.

I'd disagree J-B. All of the people I've spoken to when I've been in there have mentioned they are big fans of Urban Gorilla, not just the venue. However, there must be a lot of people, like myself, who never even found out where UG was (badly advertised) before it was at Zero... so it's bound to be a shrewd business move by the organisers. I have no knowledge of what else is on at Zero tho'...

Where do you normally notice clubs advertising? I always used to see ads for Urban Gorilla when it was at Charles St and the Fez Club.

very wrong........UG is full of people who follow ug.

Since .Zero dropped Reflective (speed garage) for Urban Gorilla, it has become the only venue in Sheffield that only does credible music.

1st of each month - Razor Stiletto - Live Electro bands & electro muzik
2nd sat of each month - Planet Zogg
3rd Sat - Riddimtion
last Sat - Hustle.

When at uni (not in sheffield) I always noticed flyers everywhere. However, since moving to sheffield I have seen none!!! Not on lamposts, no posters or flyers, even when wandering the streets on a friday. Usually have to visit websites - is there somewhere better I could look?

Which Uni were you at? Advertising for clubs in Sheffield is really limited - the council has really cracked down and started dishing out fines for people who flypost on lamp posts. The main places to find flyers and posters will be pubs / bars / record shops in the city centre. What Sheffield needs is cheap legitimate street advertising like Leeds has.

i think zero is a great venue - they've done a lot with it before Ug moved in - they used to have an incredibly awful sound system, where the only place you could hear the music properly was right in the middle of the dance floor.

it's a big improvement on charles street - on a busy night it was all but impossible to move around without seriously getting in the way of people.

I like the decor and the fact it's got a decent place to sit down and you can move around the edge of the club properly.

i think the nights it's got in are testament to the fact that it's a good venue - whoever the management are they have done a great thing they've practically cornered the market as far as variety and quality of nights goes.

LOL What about Element/Ponana/Forum/Showroom etc? There are loads of places that play good music it just depends on the night. I wouldn't say Zero was the ONLY place that plays good music that's just silly.

If you look at the quote it says zero is the only venue in Sheffield that *only* does credible music. This is probably true if we're talking about clubs, afterall the Forum/Showroom are bars really, and Element has the commercial R&B thing on Fridays.

I've been once not really up my street. Trance madness etc loads of chems depends what you like. The venue reminds me a bit of an underground prison. Last time I was there someone had an epileptic fit so kinda put a grim feel on the night.

You're missing the point - we're talking about venues that only play "credible" i.e. non-commercial music. Zero is the only club for which this is true.

Also Ponana is closed and is now called Element - they are the same club.

i went to .zero a couple of weeks back, to the my ruin + walls of jericho gig [amazing!] i really liked the venue. never been there before, wasn't like i expected either but it was a nice suprise. the gig was meant to be at corp ........ i think this was the better choice, a lot more intimate.

i'm liking the beanbag thing going on as well, my friend is taking me to razor stiletto there. is that any good?

Not been to Zero yet used to go when it was on at Charles St had a mate who worked on the door and got us in cheaper :thumbsup: also used to go to Jungle Juice Thurs when it was on there, went to last one and had a blast :D

Should hopefully be goin to UG this Friday (4th)

its razor stiletto's 1st birthday on sat, its starting earlier than usual at 9pm. they've got 2 live electro bands on first and then the "disco".... its always a giggle!!!

Minimum is 18 - they are quite strict at IDing anyone hwo looks young

Maximum is ??? - theres a few 50 somethings that go to Planet Zogg regularly...
