Defintiely Lost. 24's gone on a bit too long now... it used to be absolutely top dog but now its getting a bit weaker. Series one of 24 beats series series one of Lost hands down, anyday!

Hmmm..must admit I do still enjoy 24, but i'd agree this latest series hasnt been up to the usual standards - after all, there are only so many ways Jack can save the USA without you thinking ' yeah, but we've seen it all before..'

Cant really comment on lost.Only ever watched a few episodes at the start of the first series, and frankly, I couldnt see what the fuss was about...

I mean, come on, that guy is seriously having the worst week of his life. Its just getting a bit unbelievable now (unlike lost, which is oh so beliveable, honest!!)

You can't Judge lost by a few early episodes. Its fantastic if you know the characters, and a bit thier history. Watch Season one right through and then tell me you are not itching for season 2 :)

Thats fair comment (although I did say that I couldnt comment on Lost as I had only watched a couple, but I'll let you off :P ).

'Spose I could give Lost another go its just....I cant...be...arsed:D

My fave from this series was when Jack shot down a helicopter with his handgun:o :hihi:

Why dont the US just send him into Iraq? He'd sort out those pesky insurgents AND capture old Osama all in one day - simple!

Lol, yep Jacks pretty good! He misses so many bullets aswell, admittedly he has been caught a couple of times, but never fatally, thank god :P im always intrigued now how they bring him back working for ctu since he left in series 3 (?) i love it though its so good! Lost is good in such an intriging way, and i don't mind that we haven't had many answers yet as i like trying to work it all out (which of course i cant!)

I absolutly love them both, but if you had me at gun point and I had to pick it would be 24. Jack is class every series gets better and how many more shows can you say that about.

Trouble with 24 is that the concept of everything happening in just 24 hours
is wearing a bit thin.
In a recent interview on Jonathan Ross' program Keither actually said that they were going to make a 24 movie, only it wasn't going to be filmed like the TV series is as 1) the movie would need to be 24 hours long! (not even War and Peace was that long!or even Dances with wolves the extended version!)
2) It meant that Jack Bowers could travel abroad.
Perhaps its time to rename the series "7 days" , 2 weeks or one month!

I liked 24 better when it was on BBC 2 when they had the 24 discussion program straight after the show and there were no Ad breaks.
My fav show at the moment is actually neither 24 or Lost, it's Alias with the latest series being screened at 10pm on Bravo on Sundays, straight after "24" meaning I can catch both shows!

They are both examples of American trash designed to keep you watching, with a 'cliffhanger' leaving you wanting more.

They're the television equivalent of heroin; cheap, addictive and not very well made.

That maybe true, but there is also a hell of a lot of British trash on TV that keeps winning their self-made industry awards, they too are designed to keep you watching and are even cheaper!
And let us not forget the Australian rubish:hihi:

I love lost to pieces, but I must admit, it would be nice for them to actaully answer a question once every now and again.

After voting for Lost in this poll, I think I need to come back and redress the balance.
I'm now getting a tadge tired of the fact that we are now in Series 3 and pretty much nothing has been established.

We still don't know who the others are and I'm starting to find it tiresome.
Week after week goes by and we are no more enlightened than the previous week.

On the other hand I've only just started watching 24 and it seems to be packed with action from start to finish, with the added bonus of knowing that at the end of 24 episodes the current mission will have reached a conclusion.

I'm with you on this one. I love the way that Lost is developing, and am glad they haven't rushed to answer questions.

Remember Twin Peaks....how everyone wanted them to 'get to the point and let us know who killed her'? Once the killer was revealed, the show lost it's way totally, which was a shame.

On Lost there are clues in every episode, but it often takes rewatching to pick up on it. However the 'what is the island, who are the others?' questions are not the reason i keep watching.....it is for the drama, the backstories, and the characters themselves.

I do think it will be cancelled after next year (season 1) due to the number of viewers who have turned off and given up. As long as they wrap it up by the end I will be happy.

I voted LOST, tho I have to admit I've only seen one or two episodes of 24.

I love LOST, I like having my head messed with, trying to think up theories of whats happening and I love the characters... especially Jack

I think its really interesting that they're going through this hell on earth where everything is weird and confusing and they don't know who or what they're up against really... yet their normal lives are waiting for them in the real world (if they ever manage to get rescued!).

I really hope they bring it to a neat conclusion by the end of series 4 though.. if they drag it out too much they'll ruin it. I think the writers know this and have agreed an ending now. They don't want to spoil their success by letting things go stale for the sake of advertising money.

I love "Lost" - I think it is brilliant, some of the best tv I've ever seen. It's fabulously well written, and never fails to stimulate questions and thoughts in my mind, which is probably the main thing I need from entertainment.

People keep saying we don't get answers - but we do, all the time. You've just got to be 'on the ball' enough to spot them. It's not passive tv - you the viewer have to make an effort and not just sit there passively, waiting for it all to be spoon-fed to you, cos it ain't gonna happen.

I like it that way - it's adult, and challenging, and inspiring, and keeps you mentally on your toes - and I love the way it can turn your ideas about something on its head from week to week.

It's very philosophical, which again I love, asking questions about who we really are, what indeed is reality, whether we all have our own destiny we will live out, whether or not we want that or accept it. Fate, destiny, luck, coincidence, synchronicity - what are we dealing with on the Island, or in our own everyday lives?

And I love the back-stories - a lot of people seem to complain about them, but they're an integral part of the show, providing answers and filling in details about the characters to encourage you to care about their fate on the Island. What's interesting is that, as far as I can see, very few of the castaways actually have good, solid, strong lives to return to - most of them seemed pretty much 'up s*** creek' in their lives at the point they crashed. The Island is giving some of them the will and the reason to live that they lacked in the outside world, and is bringing out depths in their characters they probably didn't know were there.

I admit I am surprised that it's become such a massive hit - I read somewhere that it was intended for a small, cult audience, the sort of people who loved "The Prisoner". The sort of people who have a reasonable attention span and love a good mystery. Who would thrive on the unanswered questions, the philosophical musings, and the like.

24 - sorry, but I've never been able to get into that!

I'd rather not. By all accounts, it's about a load of people wandering around a strange primitive place, not knowing what the hell's going on. If I wanted to see that I'd just get the train to Barnsley.....

Basil... if you value your 'TV free time' then do not listen to SS. Before you know it she'll have you watching Battlestar Galactica too and then you'll be truely screwed :(

I'm a sucker for the lot; 24, Lost, BG (hey SS, just got season 2 box set... ), started Heroes a couple of weeks ago and I've just been given the nod on Prison Break

Wouldn't particularly rate 24 or Lost above the other. Both can frustrate at times, but neither have failed so far to drag me right back in again up to my neck in the next episode.

Got to say at the moment tho that BG is above them both.

 I like your style Ginner! I'm glad you're enjoying BG so much - it's a real treat, isn't it?

Peachy episode last night of BG - it's lovely to watch a series where the writers and producers have taken real care over what they're creating. Won't say too much in case people haven't seen last night's episode, but the attention to detail and psychological accuracy of the programme is really quite something. Very impressed - they're really keeping up the quality

I've never gotten in to 24.

I don't know why - several friends have told me that I would enjoy it but I've never really felt the desire to investigate.

Lost is a bit of a slow burner with me. Some episodes I enjoy, others I regard as fillers. Last week's with Desmond's back story was great - Jack's back story this week I'm still tying to get my head around.

I may try 24 at some point, but it's not yet leapt out and grabbed me enough to watch it.

Interesting....

I thought the other night that phrase was about the burdens of Leadership - that to be a leader you have to keep yourself that bit separate from the people around you in order to do your job properly. And I thought Jack was trying to reject his destiny to be a leader, like he didn't want the responsibility or something....

but now I'm wondering....

Has Jack been one of the Others all along, a sort-of spy-in-camp? I know there's been rumours that one of the Castaways is really a member of the Others... all very mysterious. I love a good mystery
