Talking over tea yesterday about the coming summer and our usual family days out with the dogs when we got to remembering things they'd done. One of our dogs who seems rather keen when someone knocks on the door is quite a gentle caring creature. To date he's saved a hedgehog from drowning in a makeshift pond in the garden; brought a frog indoors during a rainstorm; brought our attention to a neighbour's rabbit which had escaped onto our garden and chased (and caught) a cat in the local park only to sit and sunbathe next to it!!!!

Does anyone else have any lovely pets with a personality?

I'd refer you to Sam Miguel's various hamster exploits, good reading there.

Every now and again I see ghosts of one of my previous cats. Y'know, images of himself sunning on stone walls, or strutting about, or things like that. He was called Whisper, which sort-of fits I guess.

Thanks, Moonholt. Sadly, as I mentioned in a thread dedicated to the late Tiddles, she won't be entertaining us with ther tricks any more. She died last Tuesday.

However, we now have Agent Pipsqueak, a pale caramel-coloured male Syrian Hamster who joined us on Friday night. We have big, big plans for him.

I hope to get him to do daredevil stunts in a few week's time. Really interesting stuff, I hope. I am even thinking of teaching him to swim. Does anyone know if they are easily trainable in this area?

Another posssibilty is tightrope walking. Well, tight string actually, stretched from one side of the cage to the other.

I've had news that Jack, one of our two dwarf lop rabbits, died this Friday.

Always a lover of fun and action, Jack got his name because of his quirky nature. A great friend to his twin brother Chestnut, Jack was happiest in the sun, lounging on grass or attempting to eat the occasional dandelion. Although his relationship with Chestnut was very close, he was never allowed in direct contact with his brother as he'd immediately jump on his back and start humping him, not ever really understanding the facts of life and being in danger of seriously injuring Chestnut in the process. Since moving to the Isle of Man Jack has had fewer opportunities to enjoy himself on soft turf, due to the lack of a grassy area in our current house. His later years were mainly spent in a run next to the run of Chestnut, where the two would spend their days looking each other and allowing the sexual tension to build up. However, despite this hectic lifestyle it seems as though Jack passed away peacefully in his sleep and he is now buried in the front garden. He was 7½.

My sister tried teaching hers to swim and she almost drowned the poor terrified Toffee in her bath! I wouldn't advise it! Anyway, do they have swimming pools in the Syrian deserts for them to practise in? I will have to ask Hamuel. (I wonder if the pet shop sells little arm-bands for hamsters to wear???)

That's got to be the single most funniest site I've seen for ages. Poor guy, he needs a girlfriend.
