I have just booked a cruise in December for my 25 wedding annv to the canary islands, Madiera and Morocco and wondered what the weather was like at that time of year.

I'm a bit worried that the weather might be crap but i have been advised that it will be good, meaning warm or hot, although you cannot forcast rain.

has anyone been there at that time of year and will i need my winter warmers.

Please give me good news.

I went to Fuerteventura in The Canaries two years ago in January, and it was hot in the daytime (25 degrees) but cooled down at night.

Fantastic, it was, sitting outside at 8:30 in the morning in my shorts scramming a full English breakfast.

It did get quite cold at night, though. Sitting-outside-weather, but a coat or some top was needed.

You lucky thing - cruising is awesome! Have you been on one before?

we go to the Canaries every winter for our holidays and it's been changing over the last few years. While most of the time it is hot in the day time there have been the odd days when it's rained and if the wind gets up and blows the dust over from Africa then it gets uncomfortable, but having said that it's still better than being at home and certainly on a cruise you should be well provided for ....enjoy it and have a great anniversary.

I proposed to my fiance (wife to be in a few weeks) in Fuerteventura November 2001.

The day time weather was very warm (mid 20's to maybe 31 C).
Night time cooled right down tho.

Never been there in December but I'm guessing it wouldn't be much different wather wise.

All the best, and I'm sure it will be great

It's always a little cooler on board. You will spend most of the day berthed up though, but the evenings at sea can be chilly.

The food and drink is all in so the spending money i take will go on trips on land and clothes from the markets especailly in Morocco.
I feel confident that the weather will be good and although we will be sailing at night, the days will be spent on land.
We will be visiting 6 ports and cannot wait.
It will be my first xmas away and if it all goes well then my future xmas's could go the same way.

Hehe, you will love it! Just one BIG tip, go to the Pursars Desk before you set sail and get some sea sickness tablets if you have any worry about that at all. The only time I ever struggled was in a F8 in the North Sea and we stupidly stayed in the cabin instead of going up top. :loopy:
