View Full Version : MKI Fiestas...great way to get into classic cars
goldenfleece 25-05-2006, 08:58 I started with a MK I Fiesta nd seriously not looked back, I love them to bits. So easy to fix and maintain and virtually all parts still available either new or second hand for these considering they were out of production by August 1983.
Check this out on ebay.....TEMPTED myself, love the colour....now have I got the space???

You selling something goldenfleece? ;)
My first car was a base model 1.0 Nova. I loved that little car, even when I had to readjust the points on cold mornings before it would start.
The Fiesta is just the same - everything on show, simple mechanics and cheap if you get it wrong ;)
goldenfleece 25-05-2006, 10:13 No its not mine..wish it was as I would NOT be selling it....I scan ebay daily for MK I's, thats how I got all mine over the years.....usually some stunning mint ones up on ebay in the summer for a TINY price!!!!!
2 years ago got a MINT metallic gold 1.3 GL 1982 X reg for just £300........and I mean 28K genuine miles on the clock, 1 owner, and total MINTER........
Skatiechik 25-05-2006, 11:50 The same with Maestros, you can get some real minters for silly prices. The trouble is you want to buy them all, but then realise you have no room and can't afford to drive them all at once :( At least we are down to three Maestros now.
You can never have enough classic cars. We have 2 classics and a banger and theres only me needs to drive to work. Liam lives at the house on the premises where he works and I could walk to work if I really wanted to.:loopy:
goldenfleece 26-05-2006, 12:10 I agree, never enough. We had many more Fiestas at one point 2 years ago but was seriously at the stage where we had to park them all so close to each other it was impossible to get into them without going in through the tailgates!! Had to prune them down a bit. Need a bigger house and garden....
Trouble is the garage at our house is big enough for about 30 cars in the garage and another 10 on the drive. Living at a working body shop just encourages you to buy more cars!
goldenfleece 01-06-2006, 07:39 space for 30 cars plus 10? Ooh, time for a GREAT collection there!!!
Trouble is it's a working bodyshop. Can't take up too much space
Skatiechik 02-06-2006, 12:08 What kind of bodyshop is it by the way? Insurance repairs, or more general?
Insurance repairs, general repairs, MOT work, minor mechanical work, classics, restorations, you name it we'll have a go. Do work on anything form 1920's Vintage creations to warranty work on new Chryslers' Lotus's, Saab's and Audi's. Get the odd job from ferrari as well.
The restoration work comes from all over the country.
stackmonkey 04-07-2006, 16:08 I wouldn't mind getting hold of a Mk1 Fiesta once my finances recover from their current parlous state...
I want something very cheap that i can learn basic mechanical and bodywork skills on without worrying about it if i mess it up..
My first car was a 957cc Mk1 Finesse 1983.
Theres a MK1 Fiesta with 6 months test and a months tax for £75 on western road in crookes/walkley. We went and had a look the other day. It's not the tidyest around but for £75 you can't complain. Think it's a MK1 & a half though.
goldenfleece 06-07-2006, 20:10 What reg is it? Colour? Model? Always wanting more.......especially if its a GHIA or a special edition....
It's a 1.1L i believe. Like i said it's not in fantastic nick. It's done around 56,000 miles so not too many.
Oh yeah and it's red with black bumpers.
Just seen someone giving away this in barnsley freecycle if any good to anyone ..?
