Afghan Hounds ?
Airedales seem to be making a come back.
Dobermans not very popular now.
Rescue kennels are full of staffies and staffie crosses.
It's a fashion fad,Crufts winner and everyone wants one.
terriers are best

There seem to be a fair few pugs at the dog classes at beighton. Perhaps they just aren't allowed to walk anywhere?

My small dog, a daschund is 12 years old. Sometimes on a long walk I 'give him a carry' cos he gets knackered.:)

That is so cute! But don't lie, he's not tired really, you just want to give him a cuddle! My dog is so sweet I just have to pick her up sometimes. Not on a walk though - she'd never let me!

I'm guilty of beagle carrying. Mainly to take him in places I shouldn't really, and for a while whilst he was paralysed

He's flippin heavy though :suspect:

I think one of the main reasons you will see alot more staffordshire bull terriers than British Bulldogs is price, your looking at around £1200 for a pure bred British Bulldog - and most breeders are very careful about where their offspring go, which means you don't get cross breeds filling the Ad Mag for £30 a piece.

Staffy's on the other hand seem to have sadly become a 'poor mans hard dog' since the laws changed regarding the dangerous dogs act, so you get many more irresponsible owners having litters of cross bred staffy's.

There are of course many reliable breeders out there that are responsible about breedings staffy's as well, i'm not tarring everyone with the same brush :)

On my travels I come across all sorts of dogs but can only think of two bulldogs and they both live together. Some-one up the road from me has got a black pug puppy, he thinks he's a rottweiler in disguise but in a cute way.
Staffy's are very much a fashion statement as has already been said and plenty of their owners seem to have no neck to speak of and are heavily tattooed and as some say look uglier than their dog. I don't agree with this as i don't think staffy's are ugly but then I also like British Bull terriers.

Not because people aren't so keen about having drool all over their soft furnishings since we stopped living in homes with linoleum flooring and wipe-clean sofas? ;)

I would love a bulldog for years we have been thinking of getting one but they are so expensive. I have two German Shephards 6 and 7 years old and altho i wouldnt swap them for the world we are thinking of our next dogs :(
Bulldogs have alot of health problems so i think that can put people off having them but so do german shephards with their back legs but you dont hear people moaning about that?! I think you either love em or you hate em and i love em altho they are build like brick walls i still think id like to have a gsd aswell i like big dogs :D what do people think?

I'm not a fan of bull dogs (though I met a beautiful pair of cream and white ones in pets at home one day) but I do like giant boxers. The thing I have noticed with both breeds though is the amount of noise they make when they breathe though maybe I only have meet badly bred ones :( I think the noise would drive me around the bend

One problem with having a GSD and a bull dog together might be the difference in activity levels, I'm sure bull dogs get tired out pretty quickly. I personally like my dogs a bit leggy rather than stocky.

Most Bulldogs cannot go out in warm weather, my own girl had heat stroke during the heatwave a few weeks ago, a friends bulldog had one of hers dead when she got home, due to the heat, but they are popular and very expensive.

Its not always bad news my sisters bulldog is 13, she did have a drama the other week though, it was raining and bulldog had gone in garden, the husband came home from work and my sister thought it strange the dog did not come in to greet him, she went out looking.....with a torch...and found the dog on her back like a tortoise unable to get up!!

If you want to see a really healthy bulldog with a fabulous temperament go to the new pet food shop which is adjacent to the Towsure car park at Malin Bridge. The owner of that shop has a really chilled and not-at-all-bonkers springer spaniel and the loveliest bulldog, both of whom live on a BARF diet. They're a credit to the diet, the pair of them.

Bulldogs are not the dogs for me, but as long as they're happy and healthy then I've got no problems with them.

i have 2 bulldogs ,the main reason you dont see a lot of them about is they get pinched (high value ) mine are brill . The other thing i would like to mention is that bulldogs are a lot healthier now than of past,
