Hi. Has anyone ever been to Labour Ready on Ecclesall Rd? I was just wondering what kind of work they offer, rates of pay, and generally if they're any good?

Cheers

they are a really good idea for a quick fix solution, if you work well for them they work well for you basically! you get alot of labouring and cleaning work, and used to be lots of gunstones (not pretty) sandwich factory...trust me though youll be glad that theyv'e stopped that contract...i will never touch marks and spencers sandwiches again...yuk! also do alot of night shifts at asdas in handsworth...also not pretty...you dont get paid night rates for them either...also a good thing about them is that if you are sent to a job and they dont need you- you still get paid for a minimum of 4 hours work...which is always a bonus! hope thats of help to ya!?! x

the only problem with labour ready is that they ask you to go into there office in the morning and wait for the work to come in so you could be sat there all day without any work, plus you dont get paid while waiting for work, but i have heard that they have a pool table and stuff for you while you wait. as the above reply says, i know pennine foods and i will never eat from mark and sparks again after seeing the staff there.

I too have tried them and they are a quick fix sollution. They also ask you to register at a strange time of 7 in the morning if you want to sign up. They say this is to ensure you are committed to work.

They still employ some poor sole to work on the desk in the afternoons to tell you this. She is also very helpful of telling you to ring back in the morning to see if work is available. Precicily what she does do apart from that is anyones guess.

Sorry for dragging this thread out of it's grave but does anybody know if Karen still works there...a young lass with bobbed hair in her mid 20's?

Thanks
