View Full Version : Nice Tea Place in Peak District
Hello!
I have a plan to meet friend who live in Manchester at some tea room in the peak district area.
I have moved to Sheffield from Japan recently, so I have no idea where we should go.
Could you teach me a nice tea place in the peak district?
There's some nice tea rooms in Castleton.
Agent Dan 21-05-2004, 15:33 If you can get to Bakewell they have a nice (if old fashioned) tea room on the village square... the orginal bakewell tarts (no innuendos please!)
aren't the original puddings rather than tarts??
Agent Dan 21-05-2004, 16:13 depends how old they are sorry.
Go to Grindleford cafe, it's the best place for an English nBreakfast, chip buttys, cups of "real" tea, & any kind of quality fried food available!
I mean i'm a cook, but everyone needs a chip butty or bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, fried bread & mushrooms occasionally!
Great walks nearby, beautiful setting & a bear on the way back, they are licenced!.. Top Place!

A bear?!
Don't you mean a beer?! I'd hate to try and drink a bear!
No
There's a bear on the way back, that escorts you into the licensed part of the cafe!, it sort of hangs around a hundred yards down the lane & growls if you don't follow it in! :)
 Also Baslow or Matlock Bath...

Yes it's a great place but weirdly has more rules than any other café I have ever been too. You must not and I quote: "Use Mobile Phones", "Use the toilets unless you are eating there or you will be charged 10p", you must "not leave plates at the table", "eat your own food outside", "grab tables before paying for food" it is endless the whole place is covered in rules. We had great fun counting the rules in the café - hey but the food is great and the bacon is lovely.
Haha that brings back lots of memories! I used to go to Totley All Saints Primary School and we had an annual school walk that ended up at Grindleford Cafe!... ahh the joy of ice pops:D
Sorry, enough of the nostalgia... Bakewell would seem to be a good idea - actually, try getting 210 bus out there and it goes via Chatsworth - just the place for a a bit of coffee, cake and culture! There's a beautiful country house and acres of parkland.. the adventure playground was always my favourite bit though!:)
Click here for the bus timetable... (http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/yorkhumber/southyorkshire/timetables/timetable.php?day=3&source_id=2&service=210&routeid=13557)
...and here for the Chatsworth website (http://www.chatsworth-house.co.uk/)
Hope this helps you...

Thank you very much everyone.
We went to Bakewell.
It was really nice place!!
carcrash 03-06-2004, 20:09 The Woodbine cafe at Hope is a favorite of mine. Cheap, cheerful and they do great puddings.
