View Full Version : The Labour Party...lower than a snake's belly?
shoeshine 23-05-2006, 13:14 This BBC News Report has to be seen to be believed.
For those of you who don't read the news much, Dr. David Kelly worked for Britain's Security Service prior to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. To support his case for the invasion, Blair was heavily stressing that Iraq had, and were concealing Weapons of Mass Destruction, which could be unleashed within 45 mins. at British targets. U.N Weapons Inspectors had found nothing up to that date, but the Invasion went ahead, regardless. No such weapons have ever been found and the notions of Iraq's weapons capability have been shown to be groundless and probably fabricated to make the case for war.
This view is taken by many politicians and people both here and in the USA.
Dr. Kelly, in an early morning interview on BBC Radio opened a "can of worms" about the Security Services information used as a main factor used to promote the "reason" for going to War. Dr. Kelly was driven to suicide, so we are told. This was a man with a long period of experience working in Iraq for the British/UN Authorities. A man of impeccable character.
The Hutton Enquiry was set up to determine the factors leading up to his death, and the causes of the same. It determined the Government was innocent in its use of the pre-war intelligence it received and that Dr. David Kelly died by his own hand.
Ultimately, the BBC interviewer lost his job, and even the Director General of the BBC resigned. The Head of the Security Services ultimarely gained promotion.
It is reported today that last week, a copy of the Hutton Report was auctioned at the Arts Club, Mayfair to raise funds for the Labour Party, the item was personally signed by Cherie Blair and raised £400. Several Government Ministers were present at the auction.
I feel sick and disgusted that this should have happened, and it further sullies the good name of a fine servant of this Nation, and causes such pain, once again for his wife and family.

Profiting from the death of a man hounded into suicide by their lying and deceit.
Can this squalid bunch sink much lower?.
shoeshine 23-05-2006, 13:49 Thanks for that link cgksheff. I know I rattle on about politics sometimes, but I hope that somehow, sometime, the younger members of SF will start to take an interest in the subject.
Some of them will be all our family's representatives in Westminster at some time in the future perhaps.
upholder 23-05-2006, 13:59 Well Bliar is certainly earning the title of "Most unpopular PM of modern times".
Bloody disgrace it is :(
Internetowl 23-05-2006, 14:18 David Kelly was a top expert in his field, when the government didn't like his findings, they got rid of him. I hope he comes back to haunt Bliar and his cronies forever

I seem to remember the ambulance crew who found him stating that it couldn't have been suicide as there was not enough blood.
It was soon suppressed.
This govt makes some of the previous Tory govt's look like boy scouts
They were re-elected after all of the fiasco's they were involved in, what must they do before the public say enough is enough.
Blair likes to constantly talk about his leadership on the big/important issues, but I've yet to see which important issue he's actually been right on. Even a drunk Charles Kennedy could make better decisions!
Some quotes from Mark Twain which seem appropriate....
"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." -- Mark Twain
“The citizen who sees his society’s democratic clothes being worn out and does not cry it out, is not a patriot, but a traitor.” --Mark Twain
"The loud little handful will shout for war. The pulpit will warily and cautiously protest at first.... The great mass of the nation will rub its sleepy eyes, and will try to make out why there should be a war, and they will say earnestly and indignantly: "It is unjust and dishonorable and there is no need for war."
Then the few will shout even louder.... Before long you will see a curious thing: anti-war speakers will be stoned from the platform, and free speech will be strangled by hordes of furious men who still agree with the speakers but dare not admit it...
Next, the statesmen will invent cheap lies...and each man will be glad of these lies and will study them because they soothe his conscience; and thus he will bye and bye convince himself that the war is just and he will thank God for a better sleep he enjoys by his self-deception."

Well, I've emailed my MP. Can everyone else who's jumping on the bandwagon for a moan say the same thing?
;)
Bartfarst 23-05-2006, 14:34 I thought I had a feel for the depravity of this PM and his grabbing wife, but this case beggars belief.
Perhaps they might choose to give the £400 to the good man's widow, along with a formal and sincere apology for killing him, which they most certainly did.

shoeshine 23-05-2006, 14:57 Thanks for your contributions so far, posters.
For those wishing to look further into this worthy man, and what happened to him a couple of years or so ago, please Google Search the words "Dr. David Kelly" without the quotation marks.
I won't put links into the pages, suffice to report that many of them make very interesting reading and give much food for thought and suspicion.
This man should be truly honoured by the Nation, not "mocked" by senior politicians and the wife of the most senior politician in Parliament today.
I note today also, that Mr. Blair's official discussions with Ruper Murdoch over the years, owner of The Sun newspaper (the main supporter of Blair's Government during 3 General Elections) have been refused under the Freedom of Information Act.
At first the officials in charge of documentational release refused on the grounds of cost. The applicant narrowed down the application to cover just one year. He was again refused access, and was told the information would not be released anyway. So who is pulling who's ropes, one wonders. And why the secrecy at the highest levels of our elected Government?
The Freedom of Information Act is not worth the paper it's written on.

shoeshine 23-05-2006, 15:45 That doesn't surprise me.......the Yanks seem to be way ahead of us on their F.O.I.......mind you they seem to blank a lot out, claiming it's for security purposes......:suspect:
cgksheff/SHsheff......just to confirm I have e-mailed my MP within the last few minutes........ no doubt I may get a response when he returns from a fact-finding tour of the slums in Monte Carlo.

How do you now he was a 'good man', he was being hounded by the press and topped himself.
If every one was so weak as to commit suicide when they made a mistake (eg exceeding your terms of reference) it would certainly reduce the surplus population!

All the accounts of him at the time point to him being a 'good man'. I don't recall anything saying he was a 'bad' man, the worst anyone could say was that he was perhaps misguided in saying what he said during the interview. And the circumstances of his death were suspicious, imo.

My thoughts too, and some experienced trauma medics included, by all accounts.
I bet it was the same bloke who shot kennedy and killed diana.

New Labour is not my party it is the neo thatcherite party. I have no affiliation among this current shower of tory layabouts.
If, as it seems, you are a tory you should be cheering Tony from the rafters. After all he is continuing maggies policies with even greater determination than she did. And as for war, any soldiers should be happy, it has been one after the other since he came to power. Mind you this time they are fighting hardened soldiers brought up on the battlefields of Afghanistan, and not frightened teenage conscripts as in the Falklands. Perhaps some soldiers prefer posing as opposed to fighting real opposition
Some of this current lot remind me of the Monty Python sketch about the army.
When the young soldier is asked why he wants to leave, he answers 'Theres people with guns out there, Sir.... Real ones!'
shoeshine 23-05-2006, 18:06 Didn't you vote for Labour then? :hihi:
I seem to remember the ambulance crew who found him stating that it couldn't have been suicide as there was not enough blood.

Didn't you vote for Labour then? :hihi:
Yes I did, the reason being is to see Tories squirm and vent their spleen at not being in power, Whenever I feel like a bit of a laugh, I remember Thatcher crying tears of rage at being ousted by you lot from Dowing Street, and the faces of all those like Portillo when they got voted out. Deep joy!
In this area it is the first time for 30 years a tory has not been elected to the Council, we all voted for the Independent guy.
It has thrown the complacent, smug tories into chaos as he was the leader of them. After 30 years he thought he had it in the bag. Ater the vote he had to be taken away in shock. What a laugh!
If the tories think they can win power ever again they are deluding themselves, they will not win the Labour vote by putting up a grinning Blair lookand sound alike.
We are heartily sick of Blair and his pals, on both sides of the House, lets get some proper politicians to work for the country and not grinning buffoons like Cameron and Blair

Do not assume my political affiliations, artisan, you may well be in error. :)
So you voted for New Labour, who got beaten by an Independent and you rejoiced.
How odd.....:hihi:

I think you are mixing up two different people here. I said I voted for the Independent, a good friend of mine and we ousted the Tories.
You are mixing up what I said about your party in the General Election.
I am making assumptons based on your comments, if you are not a tory what are you, or would you 'prefer not to say' :suspect:

That's not what you said in your post, artisan, see your post No. 26......but, seeing as you come from the thriving hub of the County, I will let it pass :hihi:

Read this quote shoe shine. It says 'we all voted for the Independent guy' that is myself included.
I do not 'come from' here. I was born and brought up in inner city Sheffield.
I am now leaving your try at a battle of wits, as I do not fight with unarmed men.

OK my friend, please always remember that an unarmed man, with one leg, a single crutch and unable to deliver a coup de grace to the goolies for fear of falling down, can always deliver a toothless grin to intimidate in a most scary way..:hihi: :hihi: :hihi:

livestrong 24-05-2006, 05:20 just a quick query... at what point on a snake does it's belly begin and end? i know it is only slightly off topic but it was in the title... not being a snake expert myself it would all look the same to me.

barnie41 24-05-2006, 08:07 So far we've had the Police forces being labelled unfit for purpose, Home office unfit for purpose, when are the Labour party going to see the real truth
LABOUR - UNFIT FOR PURPOSE.
The auction of that autographed Hutton report was nothing less than a total disgrace - but what have we come to expect of this government.
shoeshine 24-05-2006, 15:22 It was reported at mid-afternoon today on BBC RadioFive Live that Blair has issued an apology with respect to Cherie Blair's autographing the copy of the Hutton Report.
He is reported as saying she meant no offence by it. :)
No mention of the diversion of monies from the sale going to Charity as far as I heard. I may be wrong.
I expect his comments will be reported somewhere in the Press tomorrow.
shoeshine 13-06-2006, 10:00 Just a quick update on this subject regarding the auctioning of a copy of the Hutton Report into the circumstances leading to the death of Dr. David Kelly.
Following cgksheff's link to a "Contact your MP" Site, I sent an e-mail to my MP.
I have today received a letter from my local MP, the Rt. Hon Kevin Barron MP.
I will not disclose the contents, but will state that I am more than satisfied with the response from him, which I would describe as supportive.
Can this squalid bunch sink much lower?.
I have no idea.
No doubt they will try:(.
