I just wanted to ask you all for a little advice on upgrading my graphics performance. I have around 180 pounds to spend so i know the cutting edge cards are out of reach but i have been giving alot of thought to getting a xfx 6800gs 256mb agp.

I am currently running a pc with the following specs

amd sempron 2600+ (though i bought a 3ghz go figure)
1gb kingston 3200 (200mhz)
radeon 9600pro 256mb

sorry i cant be too specific but would 150 be justified by a noticable speed difference?

Hi,
a mate of mine has just got the 6800GT card. Running it on a similar set up to yours.
His graphics are noticably better than my 9800SE card.
Hope this is some help :)
ps, are you selling the 9600 pro?

Cheers, Paul

Keep your eyes out for a BFG 6800 Ultra. I flogged mine for £150 so you should be able to find one for around that on Ebay. They also have a lifetime warranty which is a bonus when buying second hand. The BFG Ultra was about the fastest 6800 card on the market, it's chunky though so make sure you have a good PSU and space inside your case to fit it. It will be a shedload faster than you 9600pro. A few benchmarks for games you may want to play.
