As most of you 'knew' her through he forum, I thought I 'd let you know that Tiddles died about half-an-hour ago.

We took her to the vet's yesterday and she had an antibiotic injection. However she was really weak and never responded to treatment.

is this the fella with the bare belly? What else was wrong with him, I wouldnt think just a bare belly was a caase for a vet visit.

Thanks for that SM!!!!!!

Now I feel really lousy after my 'get a cat' and 'get a belly toupe' jibes.

Sorry to hear the news.

Hope Tiddles died in peace.

Ah, don't worry. It 's the sort of jokes I make all the time. Yes, the little mite with the fur loss. We took her to the vet's on Monday by which time she was getting really thin and weak as she hadn't been eating.

She had an injection as the vet thought it might be a viral infection, but she just got weaker and weaker.

We were trying to get her to take water throught a dropper, but she wasn't interested. In the end she appeared to slip into some kind of coma and died peacefully wrapped up in an old tea-towel.

I have really taken to the little creatures, and we will be getting another one, that's for sure. I hope the next one lasts more than seven months, though!

In the meantime, I will be working on a written tribute to Tiddles.

It sounds like you're fond of hamsters but have a look at gerbils too. I've found them to be more friendly and easier to tame. We've never had one that died before it's allotted 3 years or so was up. I once had a gerbil that used to climb onto my shoulder when I was playing my guitar.

Could you be more insensitive! Dude!

I've had a few hamsters in the past, they only live a short while is the problem. Hope it wasn't too traumatic for the little thing.
