Hi myself and my friend are moving to sheffield to study post grad degrees, we're both 21 and enjoy going out and having fun. However we;re moving from manchester and dont know anythng about sheffield. I assume the best place to live is in the city centre? Am i right or would we be better or living somewhere else. We drive so transport isnt an issue altho the tram links nearby would be handy.

Hiya :)

The main student areas are broomhill, broomhall, crookesmoor, crookes, hunters bar, ecclesall road and walkley. You could also consider hillsborough, norfolk park, netheredge, meersbrook or sharrow although these places are a bit further away from the Uni.

Personally I would reccomend the hunters bar/ecclesall road area :)

you can't go far wrong with the Ecclesall Road/Hunters Bar area. Pubs, resturants, Tesco Metro and quick, easy transport links straight into the centre. This area is ok for both uni's but is particularly popular with Hallam students.

If you are going to the University of Sheffield you should consider Broomhill.

I would avoid Norfolk park as I know students there who have had multiple break ins

Ecclesall is good though imo

It's possible I'll have two rooms to let in a nice house in September very near Sheffield univ. (Broomhall/Broomhill). If you're interested, pm me.

If you're teaching, bear in mind that Education is moving to the city campus over the next year or so, so you'll be more than 10 minutes' walk from where you live!
