Hi
I need a gardener to sort out our box standard back and front garden with its surrounding trees this year on a fortnightly/regular basis. Could anyone advice on what the average per hour/per visit charges are for the same? Also can anyone recommend a reliable gardener who will do the job well and at reasonable charges in S11?

I Live in Totley, had an older bloke do my hedges couple of years ago. Lost contact with him now, see if I can get you his details. He used to charge around 7 quid an hour if I remember correctly.

Be wary, if it's uphill they will charge more.

I think my aunt pays about £7-£8 for a gardener once per fortnight. He mows the lawns, trims edges and hedges, weeds and plants for her and usually spends about 90 minutes on her garden.

He brings his own tools and takes away the rubbish too.

Not a bad price considering. I will ask Aunty for his name and maybe pm you with it .:)

Hi. Can anyone pass on any details to me too. I am also in a similar situation. My hedges are really tall, and I don't know how to garden well. Bought a trimmer, but it doesn't work any more, cos the branches have grown too thick. I'm too short to reach a certain height, and I don't have the equipment to continuously maintain it.

Any details of hedge trimming, or gardening maintenance would be appreciated. I'm in S2.

He charges £7-£8 for 90 mins work? I am presuming he is an old chap who enjoys gardening at those prices, if he is doing it for a living I think running a buisness might not be his strong point.

Yes that sounds pretty cheap. My gardener charges about £11 an hour (it may be £12) but he gets the job done very efficiently in 2 hours a weeknand leaves me to do the nice jobs :P

I would think taking away the rubbish would be worth that alone.

I've just had Norton garden Services around to clear my very 'mature' garden and I'm very happy with what they've done and how tidy they've left eveything. I plan to use them for regular maintenance from now on.

Wouldn't happen to work for them would you, seeing as you list yourself as a gardener and most of your posts are telling us how marvellous they are?

Apart from the fact I believe it might be against forum rules. And to "advertise" by deception, by pretending to be a customer of your own business would suggest a lack of integrity. Would certainly put me off using your business.

Hi all,

Check out user 'STERI' on here. I sent him a message this afternoon, he replied within 10minutes and is at my house as I type! He is just starting up and wanting custom. He charges £8.50 per hour and he hasn't stopped since he arrived. His numbers are 01142863703 or 07973553655, his name is Paul
