Occasionally, when I try to access the net on my laptop, my speedtouch modem does not work. I get the bubble "USB device not recognized" and the LEDs don't lght up. It is working now, but I have terrible problems with it.
I rang Wanadoo and they suggested that the problem was due to the power source to my laptop. I did have to replace my power adapter last year and I'm sure it is not the exact same spec as my original.
So,
1.) Are Wanadoo right do you think?
2.) Did they fob me off and the modem is playing up?
3.) Is my laptop nacked?
Has anyone else experienced my turmoil and can offer advice?

Is your laptop running plugged into the mains when this happens, or is it running on the battery? - I am wondering whether power management has kicked in and lowered the power being used for the USB modem you have. Whilst your modem is plugged in (and visible to windows) go into control panel, double click system, click the hardware tab and then click on the device manager button. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and expand the tree that says "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", right click on ever device listed and select properties (one by one) and select the power management tab - untick the option that says your computer can switch it off and test it that for a week.
Its wanadoo's modem thats at fault.
We had the same problem with ours and we got the same spiel from wanadoo.
We moaned and complained until they sent us a new modem- it worked fine after that every time.
Remember you are paying them for a service which at the moment is not working as it should- get them told!! :)
