Looking at the massive size of the Attercliffe threads, you'd think the entire city came from Attercliffe originally. A lot of us did because that's where most of the big steel works were close to. I lived in Tinsley, Abbeydale, and Greenhill eventually, but Attercliffe was special. I took my son there on a trip from Canada some years ago to show him where I was born, but where our terrace was was now a parking lot. It made me very sad.

Attercliffe was also a very big area, most people would also describe Carbrook as part of Attercliffe, and its fringes stretched into a few other areas too.

what road, off the 'Cliffe were you from, buck? (and what sort of age are you?if you don't mind me asking)

I remember the wholesale clearance of the 'Cliffe, as a kid, my own grandpa's house is "under" the parking lot of the arena, beside the old Carbrook School, (which became the Players Cafe) it always makes me want to have a little "sniffle" when I go past the site of the house my mother grew up in.

My mum and her family were from the Cliffe, they were called Fletcher. They lived on Kings lake street which was somewhere near the old police station.
