I have been wanting to play tennis but without joining a club, does anyone know how I can go about this? is there a league or something that I can join for the summer?

Try Norton Tennis Centre, its a public club, think they have leagues and lessons etc.

Find a wall and draw a horizontal line across it at approx waist height.
