I'm doing my family tree and just discovered that a relative is buried in a common grave in sheffield in 1960 can anyone help?

Got this by googling...

"An unpurchased grave, sometimes known as a public or common grave, is where the right to burial cannot be bought and the council has total control of the grave. The council will decide who will be buried in the grave and this might not be members of the same family. Memorial rights only exist on public graves for a period of 15 years and a small headstone or marker is permitted on the grave for that period."

The information on the Beckett Street link would still apply in the 1960's, although from my experience of working with the Burial Registers for Walkley Cemetery these graves may be open for weeks rather than days.

These graves may also be described as 'Public' , 'Ordinary' or 'Unpurchased'. They existed in denominational as well as municipal burial grounds (Walkley is an Anglican cemetery).
