Can anyone reccommend me a good (and reputable!) place to take my 1979 Mk1 Fiesta to for a full respray? I've heard about John Bee Motors but wondered if anyone else had used him or anywhere else in town for such work?
Thanks for any help you guys can give!
I live with my boyfriend who works at John Bees and we live at the house on the premises. They are second to none for body work and paintwork. Not that I'm biased. They do work on all of our cars.
They are not cheap. A full respray will cost between £1000 to £1750 depending on how much prep work you do yourself. This is just for laying on the paint and they won't do it if the body work isn't up to much. Take the car down and ask for Liam, he's the resident Ford expert and will point you in the right direction.

Ah another MK I fan!!! What is your 79 model variant? We have lots of them and want more.......fantastic cars.......
I had my 77 Fiesta re-sprayed in metallic gold in 1998 by a place called the paintshop, cant recall where it was, somewhere nr Attercliffe, no idea if its still there. They did me a full respray in 2 pack metallic gold paint (exterior only) for £400, but that was 98 prices of course.....it wa a great job too....
paint still looks OK 8 years later, but the rest of the car is not....its in boxes awaiting a full rebuild and engine re-bore...

Has anyone had anywork at any of these places?
I will be looking to get a full respray - which will require removal of rear spoiler and windscreen for rust repair work. Some little work to the rear end of sills and arches, along with some bubbling on the bonnet. Plus some removal of shopping car part dents. Basically turning my good condition car back into pristine.
Also not having much experience with obtaining quotes for bodywork. Are most places open at the weekend? Can I take my car along on the day for someone to give me a free quote, or would I need to pre-arrange it? I presume I will be able to take a look at customers cars to see the quality of metalwork, and spray painting?
