Meh, in the inevitable abscence of anything better in the Saturday night TV schedules, no doubt I'll end up watching at least a bit of it if not all of it.

Yep it has become a bit of a thing if we are in to just watch it for the Terry bits, highly amusing.

Worrying I scrap my original comment as I have just sat through the entire thing with my flatmates and wasted 3 hours of valuable essay writing time.

The Ukraine won by the way, the girl seemed to be a Shakira cast off?

Oh and we didnt get null points but we didnt do very well

Sheesh we came 16th !!!

Kinda glad I missed it and forgot to tape it !

Meh, that was the only reason Ukraine won IMO, cos their song featured fit bids gyrating about in tight leather.... Nowt to do with the actual song itself.

When it looked as though Turkey were going to walk it though I was shouting "FIX! I bet they bribed the chuffing judges!" at the screen.

I thought the Bosnia, Malta, and Ukraine songs were the only good ones. The UK song did much better than it deserved!

(My fiancee FORCED me to watch it by the way lol) :shakes:

Rich
16-05-2004, 11:43
Yeah the UK song did suck.

No doubt it'll get to #1 in the charts though purely cos it's sung by a blonde hunk with a mullet.... Bleh, young teeny boppers are SO fickle.

I didn't watch this one but Eurovision occasionally has flashes of genius - the very camp swede in his skintight leather being stroked by various nubile wenches and so outraging all the judges and Germany's entry who performed a cowbell solo in the middle of his performance - and who says the Germans don't have a sense of humour!!!

So what did you think of the UK entrants ?

Hope Javine wins it - she was fab and can actually sing !!!

Here are my vote-notes :

Javine - cross between Beyonce, Kylie and Jamelia :P

Tricolore - fab but not really a eurovision song I think

Gina G - looks old and haggared. Not sure about her outfits !

Scott-Lee chap - OK I guess

Katie Price aka Jordan - looked like a pink Blancmange with Blonde wig stuck on top !

ANGELUS
05-03-2005, 19:15
Well tonights the night!
And it has finally proved in my mind that Barbie cannot sing.

I swear on all that is holy in this world that if Jordan wins this tonight I am going to boycott the Eurovision.

If she wins, is that the best that the UK really has to offer the eurovision? Its a slap in the face for music on the whole.

The rest of them:

Javine- the song was OK but I dont really think we need a cross between kylie and someone trying to beyonce do we not?

Gina G- Better 1st time round really, not a chance.

Scott-Lee- Nope, song was too cheesy for me.

Barbie- stick to doing what you do best love.. shagging owt with a pulse and getting your tits out.

Tricolore-
Now these are my favourites to win the thing.
As I like Il Divo I appreciate a good song and I think these guys have a good song to win the eurovision on the whole.

AND PLEASE: would someone explain to me why all the 'contestants' were lying about what they did previously in their interviews.

Javine- someone handed me a note in a club?? WTF.
Your a girls aloud reject love. Dont lie about it.

S-Lee- was on Pop Idol was he not?

Why the lying??? Did anyone else see them saying this stuff also?

Grissom

Javine wins it with barbie in second place. Sheesh !

The presenter of the web vote [that sang at the start of the show] was rather fab in her outfit :P

ANGELUS
05-03-2005, 20:40
Barbie in 2nd place!!
Shame on you the people that voted for her!

You have to love Jordan though dont you!
The girl tries to be something she is not and just fails miserably.
But she keeps on going- like the duracell bunny!!

NO Jordan, the other girl won because..
a* She sounded and sang better than you
b* She didnt look a right cock in her costume
c* She does not get her tits out at every opportunity (mind u??)
d* She is not a publicity seeking ****wit is she
e* And most important of all - Javine has TALENT

I don't think Javine made a bad job of her number at all. If it was a choice between her and the woman singing for Malta I'd pick Malta.

That said, seven necks and a diamante encrusted creation that looks like it was made of furnishing fabric (very wise to remove the curtain hooks) is never a good look! :D

I-S-R-A-E-L qualify because they are, believe it or not, part of the federation of european broadcasters, or whatever it's called. There is a league of European Broadcasters, and most countries around the north of the Meditteranean are members. (Russia, Latvia and Lithuania are also members!)

They have been taking part for ages, I remember them winning in about 1979 with "a-ba- ni- be" by "Izhar Cohen and the Alphabetas" (they also won a couple of years ago with Dana International's "Diva".

I think the eurovision should be scrapped it's not about the music it is political & it is a shame on the singers or bands who finish at the bottom who are better than the one's who win, when was the last time a greek singer was in the UK charts apart from Demis Roussos apologies to your girlfriend if I spelt his name wrong. It is supposed to be a singing contest & it is a farce now.Well done to Greece twice a Euro winner.

Totally agree with you. It should be scrapped. The voting is always the same. Same old countries voting the same way each time.

As for us. I think Javine did pretty well, she certainly didnt deserve to be anywhere near the bottom. I mean it was fair enough lst year when we finished bottom as we 100% fully deserved it because we actually was krap last time. Gemini or whatever they are called are the worst singers ive heard in my life. So I do feel for Javine. Well at least we beat the Germans ay. 2 World wars, ! World Cup and a Eurovision Song Contest :D

I thought the UK had gotten themselves relegated from it on purpose a few years ago - its a total waste of money and air time which we pay for via the licence fee :(

I think I heard somewhere before that the UK will always be in it no matter what because of all the money that the UK puts into it. If UK, Spain, Germany and France got relegated for finishing bottom, then that would be the end of Eurovision. These are the main contributors.

So the sooner UK, Spain, Germany and France get relegated, the better then!

What an evening of complete drivel that show is. Song contest? More like 'dress up stupidly and wail incoherently whilst falling around like an epileptic drunk contest'. The songs were crap - all of them- and the voting was decided by each country BEFORE the songs were even sung. Cyprus votes for Greece/Greece votes for Cyprus. FYR Macedonia votes for Croatia/Croatia votes for FYR Macedonia. Denmark votes for Norway/Norway votes for Denmark......and so on. UK, Spain, Germany and France obviously have few friends in Europe.

I watched it on and off (for a laugh), but sat through the entire voting session, and I could predict who would vote for who. What a joke!!

Its about time they ran the show based on the SONG and not the manic sideshow we saw yesterday.

:gag:

yes but UK won't get relegated. The rules used to be that the bottom 2 (I think or 3 or 4, can't remember) were relegated. But that year when we got 0 points, they suddenly announced a rule change and introduced the semi-final thing. Basically they couldn't let UK not be it in because it pays for a huge majority or the show.

So fear not, UK will be in it somehow, even if it means another convenient rule change!
